Your "Bests" of the decade....

As the double-naughts come to an end, it will be interesting to hear everyone's best of for the entire decade.

So for 2000-2009, what was your favorite:

Video Game?
Movie?
Book?
New Technology?
Website?
TV Show?
Music?

and whatever else you want to include.

Carlos.

Indeed. Listening to the soundtrack alone is an emotional experience for me. It reminds me of so many scenes in the film that it can quite literally get me to well up a bit around the eye area.

I was surprised that Firefly wasn't on your TV show list, Camp. Hell come to think of it it should have been on mine.

I'm sticking to picking one item for each category. Makes you think a bit more. I could easily list 10 for each.

Video Game: Rock Band
Movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Book: Don't read much. Last book I read was Masters of Doom I think, which I did like quite a bit
New Technology: Bittorrent
Website: YouTube
TV Show: South Park
Music: Ours (whole discography is in the 00s so I'll choose all of it)

An edit from my original list - Changed Website to YouTube. While I love LCVG, YouTube really kind of changed the face of the internet from one of static images, text and Flash Animations to one of Video that anyone could see and share. While there are lots of copies now, it was really the first to do what it did.

If I can only select my single favorite...
Video Game: Resident Evil 4
Movie: The New World
Book: Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin
New Technology: iPhone (smartphones)
Website: Wikipedia
TV Show: The Wire
Music: The Lord of the Rings Complete Recordings

If I had a few more choices:
Video Games: That has it's own thread elsewhere
Movies: Fellowship of the Ring, Black Hawk Down, Moulin Rouge, any Pixar (seriously, best entertainment company this decade by a mile), The Matrix Reloaded (I know), Spider-Man 2, both Batman films, The Fountain, Zodiac, Speed Racer, and two months to go!
Books: Harry Potter (Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows)
New Technologies: Blu-ray, DVR
Websites: Google, Fandango
TV Shows: Futurama, West Wing, South Park, Scrubs
Music: Scores for Sunshine, The Fountain (lots of good taste here), most of the NIN releases

2003 was the release of the original mini-series if I remember correctly. I know you don't watch many TV Show Camp, but the new Battlestar is one you should be trying to get to immediately. Oh and it's nothing like the 80's show outside of character names etc.

There needs to be a special font for sarcasm or something. Apparently smilies don't cut it any more.

BTW, I watched 2 episodes of the new Battlestar. It felt like a soap opera. Didn't like that but maybe I'll try again.

Video Game - Baldur's Gate II

Movie - LOTR: Fellowship (close 2nd place: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)

Books - I'll have to go with the Song of Ice and Fire series by GRR Martin (2 of the 4 were released in this decade)

New Technology - widescreen DVD / HDTV. I never bothered with pan & scan VHS

Website - newegg.com (Amazon pre-dates this decade). I've been a happy customer there since it seems like forever.

TV Show - I'll go with Angel (it started Oct 1999 as per wiki). I'd say Lost, otherwise, but I need to see it finish before I can be sure.

Music - The Lord of the Rings Complete

Is this sarcasm of his earlier sarcasm? The sarcasms which Romier missed (or was being sarcastic about himself), which Camp pointed out. I'm confused, am I calling you out on reposting, or simply being sarcastic about you being sarcastic by reposting? Anyone else confused here?

Video Game = Half-Life 2. The first FPS to really bring all the elements together. Cool story, interesting characters, intruiging/atmopsheric world, incredible physics, awesome weapons, great animation, epic sense of scale, varied levels with damn near perfect pacing, tight gameplay, etc. Oh and the computer I am typing on I bought just to play Half-Life 2. Ya I need a new computer.
Movie = The Dark Knight or LOTR trilogy come to mind the quickest.
New Technology = HDTV (Honorable mention go to digital music downloads and netflix)
Website = www.lastfm.com just because of all the great music it has helped me discover by linking me up with people with similar taste.
TV Show = Deadwood or Carnivale
Music artist = Ulrich Schnauss or Jon Hopkins

Difficult to keep it to just one on some of these for me:

Video Game - Ghost Recon series, Metroid Prime, Bioshock, Dead Space
Movie -
Book - Y: The Last Man
New Technology - BT, Blu-ray, iPhone
Website - LCVG (my home page)
TV Show - The Shield (for me, the only show to be awesome from first to final episode)
Music - none as I mainly listen to 70s, 80s music

You, sir, are correct. For some reason, I was thinking favorite's of all time when it came to the movies. Damn, nothing really stands out since then.

Movie: Serenity, but Memento also.
Book: The 13th Valley
New Technology: iphone (I love anything MAC)
Website: Facebook (but now I have a real soft spot for LCVG)
