  1. Absolutely loving this game. It is everything I wanted it to be and more. My one minor gripe is the poor implementation of HDR. As many of you are likely aware, they pretty much faked it and the results are pretty poor. I took a screenshot of SDR vs HDR as a comparison. After tweaking my TV settings for both SDR and HDR for this game these are what I got. SDR is so much better. What is everyone elses opinion on the HDR vs SDR debate regarding RDR2? Is anyone using HDR and happy with results? This is the first game I;ve been unhappy with HDR o my LG B6.
  2. Picked up SPR and Diehard last night. Just gave SPR a play. Wow they did an amazing job here. Picture quality is great. At first the grain levels were a bit much but once I started playing the movie I didn't really notice it. It felt like it was exactly as it should be. I'm so please with the disc. Easily my favorite "older movie on UHD" disc. Love it.
  3. I'm hoping they are wired differently and have better luck. They are the 2 ARC port for what its worth.
  4. Anyone else experience HDMI issues on their LG OLED display? Just recently it seems HDMI ports 3 and 4 have stopped working on my LG B6 55". The other day they were spotty and started to display at a really low res and now finally they show no signal. When I switch the same device to HDMI port 2 it is fine. My PS4 pro uses port 2, cable tv port 1 and LG UHD/Roku Ultra share port 3 (haven't picked up another HDMI cable yet). Wondering if I should look into an HDMI switcher and just plug that into port 2 and switch between PS4/UHD/Roku. Anyone have experience with switchers? Gotta love technology...
  5. Nicely done, Ed. Very pleasant listen. That modular stuff looks so daunting. One of the artists I follow on Soundcloud just posted a video of him using some type of modular setup. Thought you might enjoy it.
  6. Ok so I just had a WTF moment. Returned home from picking up some groceries, etc. Sat down with some dinner, powered on the tv and fired up Blade Runner 2049 again since when I watched it the first time I was really tired. Anywho the banding was back just like before. I didn't change ANYTHING other than power off and power back on when I got home. So I remembered my display detecting ultra deep color mode when I first fired up the UHD players after factory reset and then looking fine. I decided to disable deep color mode which forces a tv restart. Upon restart it detected the deep color mode on my UHD player again and voila the same scene in Blade Runner looked good again. No visible banding. So it would seem that the display is disabling HDMI ultra deep color mode when I power off even though it says it is turned on for said HDMI port. Very strange. At least I know how to get around the issue for now. I'll have to dig around the interwebs some more and see if others have this issue.
  7. Good news everyone...I seem to have made the problem go away after doing a factory reset through the displays software. I tried the cold reboot but never heard any "clicks" while holding the power button down and it didn't seem to work. After a factory reset and going through the initial display setup I fired up Blade Runner 2049 and went straight to the same scene as before. Please to say I am unable to see any defects in the picture now! Sorry to waste everyones time. I should have tried that before posting on here but I guess I was hoping it was a quick fix in the settings. Thanks again for your help though. Now to update the firmware and cross fingers it doesn't come back.
  8. Thanks for your lengthy reply. I think the reboot might be my next option. I am doing the "clear panel noise" option which takes 1hr with the tv turned off. Doesn't seem like that is the issue but I'm grasping at straws. I did put in the Revenant UHD earlier and I'm seeing the banding on there now too. I dont seem to recall seeing it on that disc before. It has been what I consider to be near flawless picture quality and my favorite UHD disc.
  9. I tried using the cable I use with the PS4 and the banding (pixely lines) is still very much present in Blade Runner 2049. It otherwise looks fantastic. It only seems to occur in the background where a bright background is contrasting with a darker foreground which is why I tend to see it in the sky most often. I did poke around the LG video options and it is pretty sparse. Nothing that would cause this issue. I just remembered these UHD discs come with the standard 1080p bluray so I just did a quick 4K HDR vs 1080p bluray comparison shot. It is glaring! The 1080p non HDR disc doesn't show the issue at all. Take a look. 4K HDR: 1080p standard: Ugh those HDR sky scenes are horrid. Pretty sure I've seen this defect to some degree on certain discs but never this bad. I'm using the latest firmware on both the B6 and UP970. I seem to recall the latest firmware on the B6 people were complaining about something but I dont recall what.
  10. Wow ya I see no traces of this defect in your picture. Thanks for checking and offering to help! I guess that is good news since that wouldn't seem to point to an inherent issue with my display. My UHD player is the LG UP970 (I think that is the model #) connected via HDMI directly to the TV (HDMI #3). I understand that is an "entry level" player and I have no idea if it contributing to the issue. My cable box is using HDMI 1 and PS4 HDMI 2. I am not using a receiver to process any video. Only using the Yamaha RX1500 for optical audio connections. I wonder if using a different HDMI cable or one of the other HDMI connections would make a difference. I'll have to check. My TV picture mode settings are as follows: HDR standard (user): OLED light = 100 / Contrast = 100 / Brightness = 51 / Sharpness = 10 / Color = 55 / Tint = 0 Expert control settings: Color gamut = normal Everything else is turned off White balance settings: Color temp = Warm 2 Code value = 668 No adjustments to R/G/B NO adjustments to color management system Picture options: Black level = low Trumotion = user (de-judder = 2 / De-blur = 9) <--I've turned this off and it didn't help All other settings are off (except for real cinema which defaults to on and is greyed out) HDMI Ultra HD deep color is turned on for HDMI 2 and 3 (I dont use it on the cable box) Thanks everyone for chiming in. I'll reply if anything changes.
  11. Can someone help me describe what type of defect the pixelated looking lines are in the sky here? I only seem to notice it while watching 4K HDR material on my LG B6 oled display. The above scene is from Blade Runner 2049 UHD but I see it to some degree in most 4K HDR material mainly in brightly lit sky scenes. I know its probably a common issue but I don't know what to call it. Is there a magic setting on my LG B6 that will lessen this effect? Is this something that can be eliminated or lessened by having the TV professionally calibrated? I can post my settings later if its helpful. Curious to know if fellow LG B6 (or similar OLED display) owners are seeing this effect as much as I am. I'm not up on all the tech lingo so its makes it hard to search for something that you dont know what it is called. I've tried.
  12. Decided to finally download this on PSN last night and I'm in love already. Controls are fine IMO. I wouldn't expect this to have the "you can't fail" feel of the platforming in Uncharted for example. I love the tension of struggling to climb. The puzzles have been pretty straight forward so far. The camera tracking tracking could be better though. Anywho...TRICO! What an amazing character. Immediately I wanted to hug him and pet him and call him George. His mannerisms really do remind me of my dog (Lab and retriever mix) at times. Constantly following my around and then sitting and begging for treats..or barrels as it were. I don't record many videos from games I play but this moment I thought was just beautiful. When the music, scenery, sounds and Trico all hit you in the feels at once. I can only imagine how much more I'll become attached to Trico as the game progresses. I've avoided all the spoilers so I wont be pouring through this thread just yet but figured I'd post something for those who may have passed on this one. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. Its only $20 right now on PSN.
  13. Really enjoying this one. It looks and plays fantastic. If feels really polished and well executed. Playing it on hard difficulty so far and I'm already looking forward to replaying the game on the next difficulty up. If you are a fan of the previous game than this should be a no brainer.
  14. Hmm guess I'll hang tight then and wait for the next update. Thanks for the heads up.
  15. Yes? I just know if I click software update it says there is no new version. I don't recall when I updated last. It would be nice if it was just a software issue (causing the disc to spin too fast?) but I doubt it. The strange thing is it seems like the buzzing sounds is loudest at the beginning and end of the movie and it became silent during a good portion of the movie (Leon the Professional is the disc I was watching). I was too tired to try some other discs at the time and was too busy yesterday to even think about it. So maybe certain discs are worse than others because of the way they are created? It really does seem like the disc is spinning too fast and exceeding the limits of the drive. Whatever it is...it is annoying.
