It worked perfectly on my Amazon Fire. Perhaps only select (older?) Fire devices are not compatible?

I watched it on my Xbox out of fear my FireTV wouldn't work.  The Xbox controller rumbled every time you had to make a choice.  Neat!

Amazon Prime - Homecoming.  From the writer/director of Mr. Robot, this is a strange tale of a program set up to rehabilitate returning soldiers with PTSD, but nothing is as it seems.

First, I really hate Julia Roberts.  I hate that someone, somewhere, decided she is America's sweetheart and some kind of beauty queen, where to me she is neither.  That's why she's perfect in this role, about as un-glamorous as you've ever seen her.  She is a fine actress, no doubt.   Bobby Cannavale, also seen in Mr. Robot, chews scenery like a boss, and it's glorious.  Shea Whigham is pretty great too.

It's a good story, moving along a little to slowly at times, and telegraphing its twists in stark contrast to Mr. Robot's many WTF moments.  The first season really seems to stand on its own, and wrap up completely,  but there will be a second.

I give it 3 out of 5 Pretty Women.

In one of the dumbest things I have seen, the Black Mirror movie does not work on Apple TV, amazon fire, chromecast and a bunch of other devices. If you use an iPad it won’t let you stream to tv either. Yet they already have other interactive content that does.

We had this problem too. Sat down to watch it and were greeted with a video telling us it wasn’t supported on the AppleTV.

Then looked it up online and found out my Chromecast, which is my backup for things that don’t work on ATV also wasn’t supported.

Thankfully the Netflix on my cable box, of all things, worked fine (except for the fact that our Christmas tree blocks the IR signals). I was worried we were going to have to cast from a PC.

PS4 and Xbox work without issue as well.

Agreed.  I really enjoyed this.  I wouldn’t mind a second season but fear they will fail miserably.  Roberts and Stephan James were good but Bobby Cannavale was great.

Also agree.  Oh man was I bored by this. The worst parts were having to decide because i coudn’t have given less of a fuck.  Ugh!  Easily the worst Black Mirror episode, IMO.

Russian Doll is pretty amazing. We binged the whole thing yesterday and I haven’t cared to do that with a TV series in years. Drama and comedy in excellent balance.

Good to hear.  I love that actress.

Add another voice for Russian Doll. Funny, dark, heart warming, cynical and optimistic all wrapped around some fun performances that manages to make the Groundhog Day formula work without feeling like a rip off.

I also really enjoyed “You”. An utterly strange combination of Dexter and Mean Girls (as Carlos described it to me on Facebook and he was right). The main guy is a much clumsier Dexter like character but he’s creepy and strangely compelling. He’s also right more often than not about the things he’s saying so your equally repulsed by his actions but sort of rooting for him? Again, it’s fucking weird but it was far better than I thought it would be going in and we’ll worth your time.

Damn it, your Groundhog Day comment might have just spoiled something I didn't know about the show.   Hope it doesn't matter.

In the short preview that plays on AppleTV when you highlight a show, the GD aspect was made very apparent right off the bat.

It’s literally the premise of the show as shown in its trailer. It spoils nothing.

The Disappearance of Madeline McCann -  This is a overly in-depth documentary about the disappearance of the 3-year old girl from a resort in Portugual.  I've watched a few other news programs on this, but not one that goes to this extreme.  I think they could have condensed it to half the number of episodes and still told everything.  There was a lot of repetition, and lingering too long on a single point or discovery.  I hadn't really seen reports where the parents became suspects, so that was new to me.

It's worth watching, but you won't feel like giving it your full attention 100% of the time. ;) (Geez I'm horrible)

Spoiler

I think she was most-likely kidnapped by a pedo ring.  I find no compelling reason to disbelieve her parents.   The one point where the other guests told the resort, and they wrote down, that the children were going to be left unattended, was heartbreaking and horrific.     She's probably dead somewhere.  With that distinctive streak in her iris, I think there would have been a credible sighting by now.

I'm checking out Black Summer.  Yes, it's another zombie series, but in this one the zombies are fast-movers with semi-intelligence (looking for alternative routes,  and jumping on moving vehicles, for example).

It's starting out dealing with a fresh outbreak, maybe 6 weeks old. The military is still involved, people are either trying to help or being absolute shits to one another.

I'm 3 episodes in, and will keep going,  especially for the exceptional camera work going on. Much of it is filmed with either leading or chasing cameras, and you get a real immersive feel in chaos.

Black Summer is garbage.  It has some real moments of tension and loathing, but you will find you loathe the characters and their stupidity most of all.  I have never yelled at the screen so much in my entire life. Not once in the first 4 episodes did any non-military character attempt to arm themselves with so much as a butter knife.  Infuriating!

They had some interesting plot ideas for this show, but they were mostly nonsensical.  A bunch of pussies who can't barely handle two predictable zombies is going to raid an apocalyptic gangster rave-party/rape dungeon to get weapons? Preposterous!

As I mentioned earlier, the camera-work is top-tier stuff.  Maybe check it out for that, but even that could get distracting sometimes.  My wife would yell "Close the damn door!" when someone was running through rooms, being chased by the zombie, and I would say, "You know he had to leave the door open for the cameraman."

I give it 1 out of 5 helicopter-free worlds.
