  1. My Back to the Future set arrived today. Been a long time since I watched the films as I never much liked the old blu-rays, so I'm looking forward to spending the weekend with the UHD release.

  3. Great opener! Totally love that they are untethered from any existing mythology and able to make their own at this point. The new cast members are interesting/fun and I’m eager to dig into this new world. I dug the end and the general message of hope and rebuilding.

  4. She’s a beaut! The one good thing with the Turbo Express adapter support? The Pocket will likely be getting multiple production runs in the interim.

  7. Indeed. The markup for the proprietary shell/build is very real though. In the PS5 thread I had mentioned that M.2 drives aren't particularly cheap and I think this drive is a fairly priced given the plug and play functionality and where we are with SSD prices. However, keep in mind when comparing something like the new Western Digital 1TB drive that is supposedly compatible with the PS5 (at $229) to this drive? This drive has a max rate of 4gb/s. Drives that need to be compatible with the PS5 must exceed speeds of 7gb/s. They are both PCIe 4.0 drives but market trends being what they are, a s

  8. Neat bit of technology. I hope there's room beyond whatever agreement they currently have with Seagate to allow other companies to make branded and approved cards as well. That'd certainly help make prices competitive. I'd have to imagine any exclusivity with Seagate would be for at least a year though (and I've never read confirmation of there actually being an exclusive agreement between the two of them, but it doesn't seem unrealistic to assume that there probably is).

  9. Skimmed through the first one. Absolutely colossal leap over the nasty old 1080 release. I'm so relieved.

  11. There's been some interesting news about apparent breakthroughs in plasmonic enhancement to OLED in recent weeks, which would reduce or eradicate risk of burn in, reduce ageing of a panel and may potentially even allow for boosts to peak brightness. This is the best piece I've found on the development from late September: Universal Display Technologies are licensers and suppliers to LG. 12. Event Horizon and The Haunting (1999) are both now 4K/Dolby Vision on iTunes from Paramount. Still no change to Disney titles in the UK.

  13. Hobo-Jason Mamoa has a pretty good breakdown of the Series X with all of the embargoes having gone away. I don’t particularly agree with his general perspective on hardware bottlenecks and budgets but I digress.

  14. Yes. Bear in mind that if it's a clone of the Japanese disc then it's been noise reduced to buggery (worse than Ghost in the Shell was apparently).
