kelley
http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003..._g5cluster.html They guy who designed it recently gave a speech about the process, what I really enjoyed was that they ordered them all through the Apple Store. rustyjaw
Varadarajan reported that "our latest numbers are 9.555 tera and we still have more tricks left. We are hoping for another 10 percent boost to become the first academic machine to cross 10 tera. The last ratings put us at number three worldwide." Jesus, #3 for $5 million IIRC. I'm surprsed that they went ahead and installed the machines in their cases, instead of racking them, but i guess it's too much of a PITA to remove them and rack the parts. The G5 Xserve (whenever it arrives) should make this process a good deal simpler.
kelley
What I find amazing also is how fast they were able to get this to come together. Just imagine what a 3Ghz G5 could hit.
