Romier S
It's time for the yearly Sega compilation pack I see. I don't want to be the party pooper in the thread but it's just the same list of games that I already own in a dozen different compilations across multiple platforms and I just can't bring myself to buy them yet again.... Mark E
Ech, yeah, no, most of this stuff was already released in the PS2 Ultimate Genesis release a year or so ago. Shovelware at its finest, imho. Especially considering long as you don't want a couple of those titles like E-SWAT, Streets of Rage, and the Shining series (most available elsewhere anyway) you can get that PS2 version for dirt cheap. Union Carbine
Well, since I never bought any of the previous compilations, I might just bite on this one.

DaveC
WHEN am I going to get Alex Kidd in Monster World? Brandon H
Man, I forgot totally about Wonder Boy in Monster Land . . . loved that one too.
GreenMonkey
Well, since I never bought any of the previous compilations, I might just bite on this one. Kinda in the same boat, I don't have any compilations right now. I believe I sold the Sonic Mega Collection disc we had for the GC, and I haven't had a disc with Shining Force 1/2 on it since the Dreamcast, and I love me some Streets of Rage multiplayer, so I might pick this up when I can get a deal on it. OzzelsCousinFred
I'm probly getting it for the Shining Force Series and Streets of Rage I missed out on the last compilations and they're not available at most of the local retailers that I've checked, so it's still worth it for me since there's like 10-15 or so titles on there I don't have in any form (even if I have some of them 2-3x over)

BdoUK
Looks like a decent collection, but I'm surprised that Sonic CD isn't included.
Anthony G
Oops, didn't know there was already a thread. Thanks for merging them. I don't have any of the previous compilations and I never had a Genesis so I'll be grabbing this one. Lutter
Looks like a decent collection, but I'm surprised that Sonic CD isn't included. Yeah, I think it was on one of the previous Gamecube or XBOX collections. Perhaps their "HD Emulator" is not compatible with SegaCD titles? Having a Sonic collection without Sonic CD is like packaging the Star Wars films without The Empire Strikes Back. Sonic BOOOOOOOM Sonic BOOM Sonic BOOOOOOOOOM *rocks out*
Camp
Perhaps their "HD Emulator" is not compatible with SegaCD titles? Why would that be? More likely they want to leave it out so they can add it to next year's collection.
Lutter
Can you imagine what SonicCD's FMVs would look like in high def? LOL. Maybe that's the problem. Plus SegaCD had ... uh ... TURBO CHARGED GRAPHICS!
foogledricks
No way they made new sprites art. So how are they calling it hi-def? They'd just be scaling the graphics, which the Xbox and PS3 do anyway, right?
Romier S
It's just the same sprite art with a scaling/filtering algorithm applied much like a typical PC emulator would allow you to do. It results in a fucked up smeared look that I've actually grown to detest over time. It's the same type of "Upgraded for Hi-Def" you see on any of the Sega releases on XBLA currently. The first thing I do is disable that nonsense and go right back to the original sprites. You can see a trailer for how these "upgrades" will look right here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43935.html (about the 1:14 second mark)
foogledricks
Well, if you have anything other than a 720p display, like me, mine is 1080p, then that means that the software will scale it to 720p and then my Xbox would scale it to 1080p from there. Why not just go directly from 480p to 1080p. That sounds obviously better. And the Xbox probably scales better from 480p to 720p anyway than software can do. OzzelsCousinFred
Sonic CD probly isnt on there because it eats a lot of space? either that or they're planning on another CD centered collection (like Sonic CD, R, 3D blast) (see "Sonic gems")
Camp
Sonic CD probly isnt on there because it eats a lot of space? I think there is more than enough room on a DVD to hold every game on this list and a couple copies of Sonic CD (you know, for redundancy). Anthony G
I spent around 6 hours, maybe 7 playing this today. IGN gives it a 9.0. For $28, it's a lot of fun.

Revising my rationale - it's probably because they couldn't figure out a way to make the old game videos for Sonic CD look better
Anthony G
Talk about nostalgia. I just unlocked Congo Bongo, the last time I played it was on my Commodore which had the cartridge slot. I'm also enjoying the master system and arcade ports which bring back some memories.
