It's a worthwhile thing to do, if just for your own financial awareness of what you spend gaming. I've been doing it for three years now & I've definitely noticed trends & problems in my spending.

As I seem to be seriously addicted to this forum and I agree it is a good thing to keep track of spending, I'll hold a place.

Too much so far! I'm scared to total it up..........

March - figured I'd better get up to date. Started out with a credit from trading in old games that I was pretty sure I would never play - that netted me $127.20

XBox 360 games: $301.49

Added Mass Effect 2 - 69.99

and Dead Space 19.99

Alan Wake 89.99 (May 18)

Bioshock 19.99 (X2)! - because I scratched the first disc after dusting - learned my lesson! :(

Bioshock2 39.99

XBox live points: $60.00

DS games: $170.00

Picross 3D 24.99 (May 15)

Scribblenauts 24.99

Hardware: new XB0X360 today $400. (I'll eventually take Covak's old one to my daughter's place). Now I have tons of space to store the games on the new HD.

I've stopped counting - I officially blew any budget I had in mind when I purchased the PS3. So now I don't really want to know. I'll try to be more conservative starting in January!

That should probably be it for quite a while as I have so many games in the pile!

Last year's total: Appx 3k

January:

(reserved)

$20 2000 wii points

Bayonetta $64.99

Darksiders $59.99

ME 2 CE $80 ish

Castlevania Rebirth

Update for feb:

Hard Drive for ps3 $140 (incl equipment)

AVP $60

Dante's Inferno $70 ish

Bioshock 2 CE $100

(near future possibilities)

Lunar silver star CE

Metal Slug X psp

LBP addons

SW:TFU-USE

Dark Void

Looking at commentary on the previous thread regarding price slashing etc, I generally like to play games day 1 but I give my money to the Tier 2 titles first, since the Tier 1s make enough cash to survive and do well, since the Tier2s are generally big money losers and need the support more... So unless a CE or bonus items are involved with preordering I wait on the primo titles for the pricedrop (don't care about multi much so that doesn't affect me as much). The bonuses and CEs that have soundtracks or specifically nifty stuff (especially if its from a favorite franchise) appeal quite a bit, though content trumps Soundtracks, and junk by far. The price slashing business has me a little worried that the industry will shoot itself in the face if they do it too much

I expect 2010 to be a terrible year for my budget :\

Oh noes, I just doubled my total!!!

:) So far, so good, I've managed to avoid buying bargains for the sake of bargains, mostly, with just a couple one impulse purchase that was good value & will get heavy rotation (Lego Rock Band). Fallout 3 killed the need to buy anything for quite a while, hopefully a playthrough of Mass Effect 1 & 2 will work wonders like that too soon.

I will probably be at the same total through this month. I haven't bought anything, and don't plan to. Even though Heavy Rain will get a purchase once I am done with the March Titles.

Usually I put in my totals within a day after purchasing, but I'm WAY behind this year. I need to go through and update. It should be easy, since I haven't spent too much this year. I even cancelled my GOW3 Ultimate Edition becuase I have a stack of unplayed games........ why the hell did I do that?

Mine is up to date, believe it or not. Phil finally bought a few games (BF2 and Heavy Rain), so I didn't have to :-) (Even though I will get my own copies when I can get them for a decent price, and will get FFXIII, GOW3 and Bioshock 2 eventually as well). not enough time to play everything when I'm in the middle of ST Online and DA:Awakenings.

I'm up to date as of now, unfortunately. Over $860 and it's only April, and May is looking to be an expensive SOB :(
