Sony's PlayStation+ - It pays for itself. Updates and PSN Sales ...

This. If you haven't played this, get this.

It was one of the last games I completed before selling my PS4 Pro. :)

I think I should have Kiwami in my PS+ library as I have a feeling it appeared shortly before my subscription expired, and I'm hoping I have enough hours left in my life to play through the series sequentially.

Calling out your own trolling because it apparently wasn't savage enough for anyone online to give a shit about,... That's a first world problem!

Heads up, everyone, the season pass for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is currently on sale on PSN for $4.49 (normally $29.99). You don't even have to have PS Plus in order to get the deal.

IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED.     Aw man, I just bought Knack two years ago for $7.99. I knew I should have waited.

What's up with "The PS+ Collection" by the way? All the wording I see seems to suggest it's for PS5 - do PS4-owning PS+ subscribers not get to play these PS4 games?

That seems to be the case. The video for it says that it is coming to PS5 and it has been described as “a new PlayStation Plus benefit for PlayStation 5”.

I think, for now, it is a way to give PS5 owners something to play, and to get caught up on some of the best PS4 games they may have missed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it came

to PS4 at a later date.

I grabbed Witcher 3 GOTY as I was looking to rebuy it ahead of the PS5 version upgrade not having owned the DLC before.

I was tempted by Death Stranding, but am holding out to see what plans Kojima might have for a PS5 patch or dedicated release (if indeed we get either. The game seemed to get discounted quite quickly this year having previously hit that price months ago, so I am assuming it didn't sell all that well?). Medievil is on my wishlist but I will hold on that for another time I think as it's regularly been discounted at that price too.

It's nice to be able to freely embrace the PS4 sales now that we have that list of the tiny number of titles that will not run on PS5.

Hollow Knight is fantastic. I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't played it yet.

I am interested in Shadow of War too. However, I still have to play Shadow of Mordor, which I purchased eons ago but still haven't gotten around to playing. At the very least I know it will be there for me if and when I do get it.

PS+ Collection for PS5 is also being expanded to include the Crash N'Sane Trilogy, Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles Edition (🤷‍♂️) and Final Fantasy XV has been upgraded to the Royal Edition.

The final list of titles:

Worldwide Studios

  • Bloodborne
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Third-party publishers and developers:

  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
  • Monster Hunter: World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 5
  • Resident Evil 7 biohazard

DELIGHTED about Crash as it was on my list (I had planned to get it with the Spyro Collection when the bundle of both was next on sale)

I quite enjoyed Mordor, but it got repetitive. It didn't leave me feeling compelled to play the sequel.

Is that the one where you keep ending up back at a tower and have to travel to different zones?

Memory is hazy about it sending you back to a tower, but yes you do venture out into different regions to bring down various bosses while fighting orcs and trolls...etc along the way. It just went on for a little longer than I'd have liked and ended up outstaying its welcome. If it was a tighter experience I'd have really loved it I think.

I liked the combat a lot.

I enjoyed Mordor a great deal. The Nemesis system kept the game fresh despite the repetition.

The sequel? I spent eight hours with it and disliked it immensely. It was everything wrong with open world games, IMO and the changes to the nemesis system were more frustrating than evolutionary.

The story is also laughable given the canon of the series (even moreso than the first game).

Actually looking back on the thread, I spent even more time on it than I thought. My original impressions:

Quote

So I did buy this for $25 when it was on sale and have spent roughly 12-14 hours with it thus far on the X.

Frankly, I'm bored to tears. This is everything wrong with open world game design. Garbage map filling busy work, lifeless "side quests" and a main story that's laughably outside of any true canon in the universe. I would be willing to put up with that if it wasn't so bad. The only thing that's been worthwhile is the evolution of the Nemesis system which remains a good time but there's just too damned much. Every corner brings 2-3 captains that gang up on you and you end up getting more frustrated than anything. As you grow in power, these encounters end up more manageable but they still feel messy and exhausting.

The menu system is archaic and almost impenetrable when you start the game. Equipping weapons and gems is just needlessly complex for example. Short and sweet? It's a game I'm abandoning. After hundreds of hours in the Witcher 3 and Horizon - I don't have the patience to play these types of icon hunting open world games anymore. No thanks.

Anyone interested in buying my copy, let me know. I'll give you a fair price.

Isn't the sequel also one Sterling lambasted for micro transactions/loot boxes?

Yes. It has since removed all of that but initially and for a good bit post launch it had a rather extensive MTX store and many of its systems catered to slowing the players progress down to force them to buy shit.

At launch, it had a mtx system that was lambasted by everyone except people playing it - it was utterly ignorable IMO and was largely gutted after launch.. There's much to enjoy in the Shadow Mordor games + much to get bored by.

I stand corrected on that, then. I believe the perception at the time was that that wasn't the case but then I didn't spend enough time with the game to speak from experience.
