not sure what the membership count is looking like right now but I wondered if you guys were going to stick to the "by invitation only" method or if you plan on being more public about letting people in.

I realize the downside of the Morgan's of the world but I think the strong core you've created here could keep people like that in line. It's almost like everyone here is already a moderator, you know?

Invite folks you want to see on here Camp. As of right now the general public wont know about this place until the site goes live which is basically how its going to be. We want ALL existing members to tell folks about the place and get them signed up. We have no problems with that. Give the link to friends so forth so on.

Once the site goes live the place is open to all. But wed like to have a *SITE* up before we open the forums up.

*Plus being that this is a "private" forum we can go ahead and host some of the screens and vids we have in the E3 section. If the place were public I would not be able to do that (or feel comfortable with it). We'd have to stop as most of that stuff is exclusive content from other sites.

Totally agree Camp. Its inevitable we are going to get folks like that on here and for me I wouldnt mind seeing one or two right now just to see how the current membership whips them back into place. Like I said, send the link to friends get the word out. We dont mind.

PS current membership stands at 46.

So, what are you saying? :) People I bring over are expected to be "problems"?

Just for that I'm going to invite Morgan.

How does the publc vs. private ownership matter in terms of "hosting" movies from other sites? I didn't quite follow you there. The only thing I could think of is if you were public you might find advertisers dropping out. I would think a lawsuit by IGN or whoever would be just as likely either way. (in fact, that's what I feared when the site was down/slow earlier today :? ).

The E3 coverage you guys have had thus far is amazing. I, for one, really appreciate it. Get some band-aids on those sore fingers and toast yourselves with a fine ale of your choice. I'll buy you guys a beer at next year's E3.

We did move quite a bit of traffic today, of course most of it was probably me and my coworkers downloading all the videos Romier posted (we have 10 meg connections at our desks). Here's a screenshot of today's bandwidth #'s:

Now that's A LOT of bandwidth :D

And we mightily appreciate it!

This site has the best E3 coverage of all, and we're so small that it's like a private party where we get to be snooty to all of the restauranteurs ;).

The arrival of more people should not be a problem, since it's been made abundantly clear that should they be asshats their departure will be equally as expedient :P.

When they say NEW gaming forum experience, that really means "no asshats". Don't be an asshat, you asshat.

I'm just down with the word asshat today is all

As far as the site being down, I was unable to access it around 2:00 CST. The outage (at least at my end) lasted ~30 minutes.

Thanks for the info, Camp. I've got some patching to do on the server tonight, so I'll look through the web logs and see if I can get an answer as to why you experienced an outage.

Buck,

It may not have been an outage...

I've been posting on my Macintosh for the past hour. I just went back to my PC (where I experienced the "outage") and IE 6 won't load the page. I tried Netscape too. Netscape managed to load the lcvg.com homepage but failed to load the forums.

I must be the problem. However, I don't know why I can connect via my Mac (Safari) and not my PC. Odd.

Seems the membership already contains most of the respected people from the HTF Video Game Forums. I don't think there will be a problem showing new people how things are run here at all.

P.S. I am really enjoying the videos that you've been hosting, Romier. Thanks! :D

As Kelley put it before Cameron, this here is a group effort. If it wasn't for Scott and his company the site wouldn't be possible. Kelley and I are working hard to get things flowing though I give thanks to you for the support as I (and my crazy updating mind) appreciate it.
