blackcalx
I didn't buy a lot of music this year, and most of my eMusic acquisitions were from previous years. This pretty much makes my favorites: 1 - Aphex Twin - 26 Mixes for Cash 2 - Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
rustyjaw
Most of these aren't well known, but here goes: 10 - Fischerspooner - #1 9 - Penta - Pentafiles 8 - Antix - Lull 7 - Phony Orphants - Symphony 6 - Downhill - Silent City 5 - Ott - Blumenkraft 4 - Tipper - Surrounded 3 - Massive Attack - 100th Window 2 - Radiohead - Hail to the Thief 1 - Saafi Brothers - Liquid Beach

Hank Scorpio
What genre are they? For the most part my list is hip-hop. Prefuse 73 is on the Warp label, which is also home to Aphex Twin and Autechre. The Madlib album is a bunch of Blue Note jazz he covered. But the rest is some bangin' hip-hop! Aphex Twin - 26 Mixes for Cash I forgot about that one. Great album, though.
PoisonJam
I love reading these threads because I get to feel old and out of touch as you guys list band after band that I've never heard of. Actually what makes it worse is that not only have I not heard of these, but I seem to be the ONLY one who hasn't! Every other post is something like "Oh, 'Zonker's Rabid Possum', I totally forgot about those guys!" Sigh. Back to the calm, measured tones of Robert Siegel on NPR. What's that, Bob? There's an Icelandic fisherman who makes toy trains out of whale bones? Ooh, do tell!
Josh
1. Paul Weller - Illumination 2. Saint Etienne - Finisterre 3. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell 4. Kain rising
I'm having a hard time remembering what all I've bought this year (my CD purchases dropped dramatically after getting XM), but one album I do remember and is on my top list is BT - Emotional Technology also really enjoyed Blue Man Group - The Complex
rustyjaw
6. Front 242 - Pulse Whoa, I had no idea they released something new...what's it like? EDIT: I checked out some previews...sounds cool, more like their older stuff (Tyranny for You is my favorite) which is good. I'm buying this during lunch if I can find it. I can't believe I missed this!

Graeme
This has been a real off year for music for me, having only bought about 3 new CDs this year, and only actually listened to a few more. With that said, here's my short list: Muse - Absolution Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs The New Pornographers - Electric Version As much as I love Radiohead, Hail to the Theif just hasn't done anything for me. I love 4 of the songs on there, and the rest are either only ok, or must skips which isn't a good thing. Much like Kid A in that regard. My absolute favorite CDs from this past year though were Coldplay's Rush of Blood to the Head which I just keep falling deeper in love with, and Pearl Jam's Riot Act which were both released in 02.
