Decided to finally download this on PSN last night and I'm in love already.  Controls are fine IMO.  I wouldn't expect this to have the "you can't fail" feel of the platforming in Uncharted for exampl

Member the Emperor?

Surely a good idea to hold out for a Neo, no?

You know, Daniel, just when I think you couldn't possibly get any dumber, you go and suggest something like this.

AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!

Seriously though, are you suggesting that we should willingly wait even longer to play this stupid game? Because I'm not doing that. This is my half-birthday present to myself.

You're overlooking the vital point that none of you are actually allowed to own the game until after I've played it. It's written in the forum registration terms and conditions somewhere (the game is that old). In fact, your PS4s will not even play the game until my own PS4 registers that I have installed a copy myself.

Surely a good idea to hold out for a Neo, no?

The only immediate benefit to Neo would be VR, and I'm not interested at the moment.  I do not have a 4K television that could take advantage of the 4K content it would otherwise output.  My computer is my 4K machine at the moment.  There are a total of 4 games that interest me on the PS4, and I feel that with the release of Neo it would heavily discount the older machine (my birthday is in October).  I almost pulled the trigger on a PS4 bundle, but I've decided to wait it out till then.  I could always change my mind about Neo, but as of now my mind is on a Uncharted 4 PS4.

DELAYED!

..... but only to the 6th of December.

Fumito Ueda (gen Design) and Japan Studio have a wonderful vision for The Last Guardian’s touching, emotional journey of friendship and trust, and we want to deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long. A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.

Our development continues to push itself to the fullest and we look forward to revealing new content toward launch.

I'm actually okay with this news. I was wondering just this morning where I could fit in a purchase with my October spending.

There's a number of previews out there for the game. I'll post links here and try to summarize:

https://www.wired.com/2016/09/last-guardian-tokyo-game-show/

Summary:

- There's a strong gameplay loop of solving puzzles to move to the next room and getting Trico to follow you

- The puzzles themselves are clever and enjoyable

- Trico may be the most realistic "animal" in a videogame. The AI is sophisticated but also frustrating. Trico will at times not follow your orders and you have figure out how to coax it to do what you want. Realistic? Sure. Does it make for a good game experience? The jury is still out.

- The general consensus is that the overall feel of the controls is awkward and "feels like a PS2 game". In other words, it controls very much in the same vein as Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. Some previewers feel that the controls are not as acceptable in 2016 as they were in 2005.

- The camera can be as free wheeling as Trico and not in a good way. It gets stuck on the environment and generally loses Trico at inopportune moments.

- It has all of the heat and delicate touch that you've come to expect from a Ueda game.

- It's a game that requires patience to really appreciate.

Here's a 20 minute gameplay video:

Frankly, outside of the camera issues which are concerning - the rest sounds fantastic.

I spun up the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack today and was reminded how much I adore Kow Otani's music in the game. I know he's not scoring The Last Guardian but I'm hoping its music is 1/4th as good as the work Otani did.

Seriously, we're on the verge of a new Team Ico game folks. Yeah yeah its not Team Ico anymore but FUUUU I'm really starting to get excited.
