A vinyl thread (for us old fogies who laugh in the face of common sense).

Picked up everything I was looking for plus a few impulse purchases. Talked the guy next to me into a Phillip Glass box set (hey not my money and the music is great). All in all, really smooth and my local store was the only one that had significant inventory in the area. Most only had 1 or2 copies of the popular releases and 0 copies of the really limited stuff.

Next month there's only one thing i want and it's a pressing of 500 or so. Might be a little more difficult to acquire.

Latest additions.

So this happened. I can’t blame any of you, though, that lays squarely with my BF who is a huge vinyl collector, upwards of 15k records. My resistance has slowly worn down, and in fact has inverted in

Travis when the next one gets closer, let me know what it is. I’ll see if my place has it.

Newbury had everything from what I can tell. Only thing I got that they only had a few of was Dune soundtrack.

Thanks, will keep that in mind. After yesterday I'm happy there's only 3 titles I'm looking to pick up over the remaining drops. Plenty of great reissue sets coming up though, and we haven't seen the black friday list yet, which seems like it should be far away but really isn't.

Lol yeah, it’s right around the corner. There is some non RSD  coming up I want to get , and I also just ordered that Mandolorian 8lp S1 set from mondo. Have some Single LP and picture discs that I upgraded to better versions from Mondo to sell which will help pay for that.

@rustyjaw get what was on the lists?

Ha! I really should have realized that Amoeba is not just a local chain of a couple of stores, but somewhat legendary....maybe even worldwide. Their site was completely overwhelmed. The both of us just got 504 errors, occasionally an actual page would come up, teasing you into believing it might work. But as soon as you click on something, another 504 error.

We tried that for a while, then he went with his plan B, which I didn't even know about. He visited stores he usually buys from, that also had online RSD sales. Plaid Room records was one of them. He also went to a UK store to get some of the UK releases he wanted. Then at 6pm, 1234-Go put their unsold stock on their site, he was able to grab one or two that hadn't sold out yet. So in the end he got most of what he was after, but not all of it.

Out of morbid curiosity, I kept checking Amoeba occasionally throughout the day, the site didn't become functional until like 3 pm.

I stopped by newbury as they handed out discount coupons for this weekend on RSD, but they had nothing I wanted. They did have a lot of The popular RSD titles leftover.

Pt 2 was a success, as I  was able to get the Mortal Kombat  and X-files soundtracks that were my must gets. Also picked up the Live Hootie and the Blowfish Album and the Britney RSD release.

This one was very different then last time, as a lot of stuff they only had 1 or 2 copies of a lot of things. Glad I got there an hour early and was 10th in line, as we got the last copy of MK.

Absolutely nothing I wanted, or hardly any shoppers, when I happened to find myself at Rough Trade East at just before 11am.

but then there’s a bunch of LPs coming soon, so probably for the best.

Yesterday was much more successful than the previous RSD. Walt got everything on his list (like 10 items). The only “parallel” ordering we did was right at 10am. I got the X-files ST for him while he was grabbing another thing at the top of his list. I ended up with two X-files because the shopping cart died on the final step, so I accidentally placed two orders 1 minute apart by trying to make it work. He’ll probably just sell the second copy.

Wow i was lucky and got my order in for the Mondo Tron Legacy before it sold out. I was doing an order on my phone, but it was frozen, so i ran up to my computer and got the order in right before it turned to sold out.

Got my order in for this as well. I don't buy many movie scores but this is one I definitely wanted.

RSD this weekend was pretty low key.  Picked up the two things I went for and went home. The October one should be the same way. Not much on that list I want as of now. I'll be curious to see what the black friday lists look like.

I spun a bunch of new stuff I finally got around to cleaning. Which this year is even more needed then before, the amount of crap coming off these things is insane. I had to scrub the bottom of the spin clean the last few times. I’m guessing less plants, made the few open to speed things up to meet demand.

I was shocked how good the MK movie score picture disc and Glow in the Dark X-files  from RSD sounded. No pops, clicks on either of them.

Casino Royale score is fantastic from start to finish as well. I really need to start picking up the rest of the bond scores. A place I order soundtracks from on discogs has a lot of the older ones for cheap.

I had the issue with the Mondo Avengers set, but they took care of the issue ASAP. Listened to it a few times now with no issues after another cleaning.   Their Mission Impossible releases have been great (release 3,4 and 5 already). I have listened to the Lost box set on more then a few occasions as well.  They have some releases coming I am really looking forward to.

List for RSD Black Friday is out and my wallet is safe https://recordstoreday.com/PromotionalEvent/579?view=all

I'd guess more will be added, but yea, my list for this is rather sparse. Aside from the Magnetic Fields and the surprisingly good Milla Jovovich releases, nothing else stands out as must haves for me.

Something of note that's missing is any support for their micro table. I'd expect to see something announced closer to the event.

I still need to get through October. All the Rhino Roktober Talking Heads and especially the Crow reissues will be testing my resolve or lack there of.

If any of you gentlemen across the pond run into a Tron Legacy Reconfigured release at the next RSD drop and are not buying it for themselves, I would be mighty interested in it.

And sorry Kelley, missed your post about Hackers. My local got one in this past Friday. I might have been able to get a hold on it.
