The Retro Gaming bug

Recommended Posts

Ah, Illusion of Gaia...  I remember that game had these red gems in it, and I don't think I ever got all of them (49/50).  I also never got around to playing Terranigma, which I first found out about when I first got into SNES emulation in 97...which means that SNES emulation has now been around for longer than the time between the SNES first being created and a viable emulator existing.

I filled in a rather sizable gap in my Genesis collection today with an absolutely pristine copy of....

I also picked a complete in box copy of Super Star Wars in fantastic condition, a copy of F-Zero on the SNES and the Retrobit R-Type Collectors Edition which packages Super R-Type and R-Type III in a single cart with a load of goodies!

The mini-HDMI case mod in progress:

Finally, I had him install a new battery holder to easily swap out batteries when they run out (i.e. no more redoing the time every power cycle) and also a new self healing fuse that will prevent the controller board from frying if a controller is plugged in or out while the system is powered on:

Cost of the DCHDMI kIt: $150

Cost of the mod work with shipping: $130

Total cost: $280

Dreamcast games upscaled to 1080p with pure digital video/audio: Priceless.

A smattering of screenshots taken off of the TV. This is an incredible mod! Not just for the video but the pure digital audio sounds amazing.

A friend of ours just gave me a few large boxes of NES, SNES, GC, wii, Wii U, Ps2, and Xbox 360 games (and a wii system and snes) to do with as I please (he has more, just need to find the ). NES/SNES are pretty beat up, rest looks in good shape. Going to go through them all tomorrow.

Back from the beach and enjoyed some pickups while there and in the past week or so.  Retro mixed in with some new stuff.
