Romier S 5,041
Blog post: https://blog.playstation.com/2020/09/16/devil-may-cry-5-special-edition-slices-its-way-onto-playstation-5/ Quote First up, next-gen upgrades. As soon as we got PS5 dev kits in our hands, our team began kicking the tires to see what kind of performance we could wring out of it. The first thing that caught our engine team’s attention was the hardware’s new ray tracing capabilities. PS5’s ray tracing architecture gives us the ability to render DMC5SE’s stunning graphics with even more realistic lighting – allowing the engine to calculate light bounces, and therefore draw truly dynamic reflections and provide even more realistic lighting and shadows. Up until now, our artists have always had to create approximations of reflections by hand to achieve that effect – but the ray tracing architecture in PlayStation 5 gives us “more power” to provide true reflections in real time. In DMC5SE, players have the choice to turn on ray tracing and prioritize resolution (targeting 4K @ 30fps), or frame rate (targeting 1080p @ 60fps). For players who prefer to allocate their horsepower to frame rates over graphics, PS5 also gives console players the ability to play their games at frame rates up to 120fps (with a compatible display, of course), which is enabled in DMC5SE when players turn on High Framerate Mode. Romier S 5,041
That’s pretty shitty of Capcom but then they are charging $39.99 for a “Special Edition” of a game released relatively recently. Magness
Angry the Clown 4,229
It's a shame there's no in between mode that's 60fps but either 1440 or dynamic resolution without ray tracing.
Romier S 5,041
Series S is not getting ray tracing at all and ray tracing will be coming to the Series X as a patch. The physical versions coming out on December 1st.

Romier S 5,041
Like I said in previous threads, the differences between these machines is going to end up being almost negligible in a lot of cases. There will be outliers but both fan bases will get excellent performing multi-platform releases more often than not with maybe a ~10% difference at best. The Xbox will make gains as their SDK gets better, too.

dienekes96 140
I finally nutted up to this last week. Purchased the SE digitally on my schway PS5, and frankly I’m having a real blast. Feels a bit more forgiving than previous titles, but it has tremendous combat depth and variety across the characters. Hadn’t really played the series since DMC4, and this is absolutely thr whole package. CAPCOM continues to dazzle on a technical level, with possible the best character models in video game cutscenes. I skipped the ray tracing to optimize performance, and it’s been smooth and lovely the whole time. Each of the three base characters are a real treat, and Dante’s move set(s) are absolutely overwhelming. I assume I still have a decent chunk of the game to go, but wanted to give my thumbs up. Fantastic $40 purchase. Romier S
