#2 is on the board as well. I went and finished the OG TMNT NES game on the Cowabunga collection. Something I hadn’t done since I was a kid. It took me a couple of hours but man, it was satisfying. It’s a great little game once you know where to go and what to do!

#2 is There is No Game: Wrong Dimension. A very clever and well done puzzler with a narrator that speaks with you in the same vein as Stanley Parable or Superliminal (but not a game where you control a character). It also pays homage to classic games like Lucas Arts adventure titles, Zelda… and free2play clickers.

My only real complaint is that the main voice in the game kind of annoys me.

Im sure this will be the only time this year that I’m level with Romier in games finished.

#4 is Road Avenger for Sega CD. Don’t ask me why I decided to play this. This was one of the first Sega CD games I played and despite it being kinda crap, there’s some nostalgia there.

Plus I thought it would be something I could play through in a single sitting quite easily.

I played this on the Mister and I feel like it may not quite have replicated the game perfectly. The video is horrid. Extremely pixelated and really terrible frame rate. I know that would be the case on Sega CD, but a video I watched on YouTube didn’t seem quite so bad.

I didn’t get through in a single sitting either. The last level really makes the margin for error very narrow compared to the rest of the game making it quite tough. If you hit the wrong button at all while it’s expecting another input, you’re done. The earlier levels were much more forgiving and I could get through them without an issue quite easily.

But then I’d use up all my lives on continues memorizing the last level, and just as I’d be getting it, Game Over. I literally only had a few button presses some times.

I ended up using a level select code to practice it and finally get through.

You should never, ever be ashamed for playing Road Avenger/Road Blaster. It's crap in so far as its one of those FMV games but its in the upper tier of those titles and I love it to bits.

#3 on the board. It still hits. It still has an incredibly fun world to explore, excellent characters and playing it again just makes the wait for Rebirth interminable.  They’re going to tear my heart out when “it” happens again in Rebirth aren’t they?

#4 is a quick replay of an old favorite that just got a great version released on the PS4/5. It’s Elevator Action Returns. The new console versions are a port of the arcade Saturn release with frills. Including the original game which is unlockable once you finish the main game.

#5 and #6 are playthroughs of Aliens The Arcade Game and Spider-Man The Arcade game. Aliens is a little basic as it’s an early Konami cab but it’s fun enough. Spider-Man is a hoot. I love the pixel scaling in and out to move from a 2D brawler to a platformer.

#8 is the absolutely should not be missed Hi-Fi Rush! An early game of the year candidate and the best thing to have Microsoft’s name on it since the early 360 era. Good luck to the rest of the 2023 game slate in knocking this one off of the top of my list.
