Robot Monkey
Okay, now that we've all had some time to mull over the holiday releases, I thought I'd put together our awards show. Here are my thoughts. I would like us to agree on five (5) nominations for each of the award categories I listed below. When we settle on the nominees, I will put up a poll for that category for us to vote the winner. I would ask that people hold off voting for a while when the polls go up -- instead, use the poll topic to present your best argument for your intended choice. You will notice that I didn't list genre categories. That was intentional. Genre categories bore me. A game isn't good because of its genre. I would like to provide an opportunity for people to identify games that they might otherwise have passed up because of genre reasons. Please give me your thoughts on any interesting categories I might of missed and on the overall concept. And the prize will not be known as the Polished Knob. That's just juvenile. Categories: Best Controls Best Story Best Original Soundtrack Best Compilation Soundtracxk Best Sound Design Best Art Design Best Voice Acting Most Innovative Feature Most Depth Most Addictive Funniest Game Best Party Game Best Interface Best Online Experience Best Characters Best Crossover Best Ending (no spoilers, though) Best New Feature More Games Should Use Most Improved Series/Franchise Best Demo Best GameCube Game Best PC Game Best Portable Game Best PS2 Game Best Xbox Game Game of the Year (The Game of The Year nominees will be the winners of the Best Game of each platform. Also, when nominating games for the Best Gane on each platform, please give thought to crossover status.) And of course, the Coaster Award categories: Most Cliched Worst Control System Worst Rush Job Worst Voice Acting/Script Worst Sound Worst Music Worst Sequel Worst Character Worst Load Screens Worst Interface Most Craven Grab for Cash Worst Tragic Flaw (for what would've been a slam dunk) Finally, I'd like to see two features: 1) Most sadly overlooked games and 2) Great values, both from last year's crop. If you are unsure about a game's release date (for eligibility) I know you can get it from GameFAQs. I'm sure there are other sources. -j
Chris F
I sure am glad someone took the initiative on this one. I was debating doing this, then realized it would be a huge undertaking. And I'm lazy. I'm assuming we should state our nominees here, and then we'll decide on the top 5 choices for each?

(gathering screens and more etc..). 8)

Why not? I'll edit a master list whenever there's consensus. But first, let's make sure people (esp. the owners and Mrs. Meredith) are okay with the format and categories as they currently stand. -j

Romier S
No its cool Jay, you can keep this open (I was only kidding man). Nothing wrong with readership awards, we like them as much anyone else and it gives LCVG's members a voice to express thier opinions. I'll still post our official awards when they are completed in a separate thread and let folks give feedback on our choices (some of which will no doubt be somewhat controversial ). In fact I like the categories and the setup you have going in this thread so run with it man. We'll be happy to help you facillitate the reader awards as much as we can... EDIT: Also changed the thread title to specify readership.

Chris F
I'll toss out my picks now then I guess. I'll edit this post to update it, as I'm not sure I can pick 5 titles per category, and in case I can think of any more games. Robot Monkey
No love for Clone Wars, Ruffneck? Maybe I need to pare the categories down. Shoot. It was fun coming up with the list. Maybe I'll revise it entirely for humor value? What do you guys and gals think? -j
Chris F
No love for Clone Wars, Ruffneck? Oh, I was tempted, trust me Jay. Maybe I need to pare the categories down. Shoot. It was fun coming up with the list. Maybe I'll revise it entirely for humor value? What do you guys and gals think? I like the list as it stands Jay. It's making me think a lot about the games I own, and I'm having tough decisions to make on certain categories. I've updated it about 5 times since I originally posted it.
