Chris F
Is emulation going to be considered a taboo topic here? And by emulation, I'm not talking about the obtaining of ROMs or images, but the actual emulators, and discussions about them? I know some of us are into MAME, and other emulators, and I was curious as to where we could discuss them, and IF we could discuss them. Buck
I have no problems with it, but this decision is up to Kelley or Romier. Besides, one of my Xbox's will be modded by the end of the week (hopefully) and I'm sure I'll have questions about the emulators I'll be using
Romier S
emulation is not an issue as far as I am concerned. As long as we are not posting links on where to download roms/image files etc.... Emulators however are fine to discuss.
Chris F
Perfect! At some point this week, I'd like to do something on MAME, maybe a small introduction to it, where to get the emulator (not ROMs or images) and some cool frontends and features for it. kelley
emulation is an awesome topic and I have no issues with it, but like Romier said, NO POSTING OF WHERE TO DOWNLOAD ROMS. Keep the discussion to the emulators themselves and their development.
PoisonJam
Seems that the question has been asked and answered, but I just want to say I would love to learn more about MAME--what it is, how it works, etc. I hear you guys discussing it from time to time and I have no idea what you are talking about. Chris F
I'm going to try and write up some stuff about it this week, and have a nice post in the Computers forum on or by the weekend.
Mark E
Short answer is that MAME stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator and its used in the emulation of, well, arcade games. I'll let Robot Monkey fill in the rest, but that's the gist, it's a PC program that lets you play arcade games. It's far from intuitive (versus some other emulators I've used) but I can't deny the program has its sweet, sweet moments.

But I'll leave all that stuff for my MAME post later this week.
Mark E
Er, why me? Er, because I'm a dumbass who confused the XBL FAQ with the emulation FAQ . Not to detract from Ruffneck's good work here, just got the names confused. If you want to handle it though, Monkey, you go nuts .
Robot Monkey
Er, because I'm a dumbass who confused the XBL FAQ with the emulation FAQ No need for self-flagellation; it's an easy enough mistake. I was afraid I missed something as I know very little about the subject of emulation. -j

Graeme
Mame32 is a snap to use once you figure out that you don't unzip the roms. Why, even a retarded animatronic ape could figure it out.
