Rob B
I just beat this game yesterday and I have to say I was bit Dissapointed. After playing though a fabouls game I excpected a bit more of an ending. I did like the Suprise with P'yage<sp> although I found it kinda of predictable. Mark E
Yep, and in fact there was a discussion of the ending in this thread a while back: Ye Olde Bad Endings Threade Technically since BG&E isn't an X-Box only title we were hasing it out in the general forum. It's old but my opinion hasn't changed, feel free to bump it back up .
adamsappel
Few games have held my interest long enough for me to even see the ending, so to hold the last two-minute cut-scene against a game that gave me sixteen hours of good times seems petty. Truthfully, I don't think I even saw the entire ending. There's apparently another scene after the credits play. Still, no disappointment at all. Chris F
As BG&E is a multi platform title, I'm moving this to the General Discussion forum. I'm sure there are others who own the game on different platforms who have beaten BG&E and would like to discuss the ending. Unlike myself, as I have not beaten the game yet and will be avoiding this thread. Feel free to continue the discussion here.
danger9777
I loved BG&E but was also disappointed with the ending. There were so many unanswered questions that I thought I missed something. After beating the game I went on the web and did a search and found many people were just as confused as I was. Of course, the thing after the credits left the doors wide open for a sequel, but my guess is that more about jade and the domz will be explained in the sequel....if there is one. JFo
I will admit that I was somewhat confused by the ending of Beyond Good & Evil myself, though I was not necessarily disappointed with it. It resolved most of the story points brought up, including the defeat of the DomZ and the revelation of the Alpha Sections conspiracy, and did it in a way that was satisfying to me. However, I will agree that there's more to Jade's story than what we see in this game. My guess is that Ubisoft wanted to put off the rest of the tale for the sequel - assuming we ever see one. I suspect there is a lot of back story to cover, including what happened with Pey'j and Jade's parents, who they were, and why Jade was just so damned important. Still, it is fun to speculate what the "inner glow" is Jade some sort of messiah? Is she a chosen one with powers endowed upon someone with the right lineage? I don't know. When I was watching Bobbio play through the first part of the game, I did notice something interesting. At the beginning, when the DomZ attack the lighthouse, Jade falls into a hole and is captured by one of the DomZ creatures. It makes strange noises, which almost sound like a chant. In that chant, you can clearly hear the name "Shauni." I suspect that the choice Jade made for her alias was no coincidence. Again, this is something that I would like to follow up on in a sequel... if we ever see it.
Josh
Sorry to drag this one from the dead, but I just finally beat this game tonight. I loved this game from beginning to end, including the ending. Given the climax and turn of events, I think the ending was appropriate. Yes, it did set things up for a sequel, but that's what a good story usually does. Like Ico, I'm doubtful we'll ever see a sequel, and that's truly sad, since this is one of the best stories ever told in videogame form. I found myself actually giving a crap about the characters, and that doesn't happen all too often.
