FLYING SE7EN
If you haven't already, read this month's EGM article on SC:PT. It has me more jazzed than ever (and I was already excited about it). The main thing that excites me is the online multiplayer. They do a play by play on about a minute of gameplay and it just seems awesome. My three favorite bits: 1. As a Spy, you can shoot a Mercenary with a "spy bullet" that lets you track him on your radar AND it taps into his communications so the spy team can eavesdrop on the mercenaries conversations over the Live headset. 2. A spy can sneak up behind a Mercenary and grab him and use him as a shield AND you can talk to him or taunt him through the headset! 3. The mercenaries, in addition to flashlights, have 3 different modes of enhanced vision. One for motion detection, one for sound, and one for EMF detection (you can "see" the spy from the field created by his gadgets!! March 23 can't come soon enough. J. Guest Bryan
Sounds like some fantastic gadgets will be at our disposal. I love the idea of the 'Spy Bullet'! The movies look great and are making 3/23 seem like an eternity.
Robot Monkey
Online will be 2 on 2, yes? I wonder how well they've integrated co-op play for going through the storyline online -- or if at all. -j

Even the spies you get to play online aren't him. So that would maybe indicate they wouldn't do a co-op mode. But that's just my guess
dogbert
No co-op. The Multiplayer segment of the game was allegedly developed by a whole different studio...
General Zot
I'm sure I read just recently in Gamepro or OXM that there is 2 man co-op play over live. I'll have to try and find the article again...
FLYING SE7EN
The online game is not co-op per se. You do not co-operatively play through missions from the single player game, but the multiplayer senarios are connected to the single player story. Apparently, it is very clever the way they link the two together. The article says that while the game engine can handle more than four players, when they tested it with more than 4, it destroyed the tension they were trying to create. It turned a gripping, tense, hide and seek steathy game into a run and gun shooter. What was really interesting is that they have had hundreds of french gamers playing the beta version (clocking in hundreds of hours of gameplay) all the while refining the maps and levels. They created programs to track gamers' paths through the levels, and through the study of this info, they tweak the maps to improve the gameplay by moving doors, lightening or darkening rooms etc. Very cool. Cheers. J.

In RS3, for example, you should be able to hear a bad guy talking near you. Granted, you shouldn't be able to hear the other half of the conversation that goes on in his ear piece, but you should hear the bad guy talking near you. -j
Beer Monkey
Bandwith could have a bit to do with reduced headset communication on many games. With only 2+2 play, this obviously is not a factor with SC:PT.
Guest Bryan
Just curious - show of hands for those getting the game? <raises hand> And any idea if you can play two vs. one or one vs. one?

Beer Monkey
Definitely picking this up. The movies have me totally intrigued. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that you can play any combination in multiplayer, including 1-on-1, 1-on-2, and 1-on-3.

Simply mail the unused portion back for a full refund... As to SC2, I'm thinking about it. I want Worms 3D and Trivial Pursuit the same day, though. Luckily, I have no interest in Carmen Sandiego: The Secret of the Stolen Drums coming out the same day. -j
