Unreal Championship 2 coming to xbox

yuck...some of those changes seem pretty lame for an unreal game.

Care to detail some? What exactly do you find to be a problem with the changes being made? Just all around don't like the melee feel? Resistant to change?

Not trying to pick on you Crippler, just like to hear solid reasons is all.

Sure.

My PC that I have is a turd, so I can't get UT 2004. Since UC was a port of UT 2003, I thought the same thing would be true for UC 2. I have played through both releases of UT, so when I heard a cap of 8 players on XBL I kind of was like huh? Certain games like Unreal, Socom, and just say quake are made for a minimum of 16 players.

Some of the gameplay mechanics look iffy to me. Limiting weaponry to 2 per match seems to be sort of pointless for such an action oriented series. 3rd person and meele combos? Not my cup of tea. I do like the idea of character specific adrenaline moves, a long with the game being optimized specifcally for xbox. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind come E3 when more detailed impressions come out.

Thanks Crippler.

You (and everyone else interested) may want to take a look at this developer interview on Gamespot. Credit goes to Scott (Buck) for directing me to the intereview in the first place:

The game looks killer so far and the focus on character/weapon selection looks like an excellent change for the series. After watching that interview I'm excited to try it. Graphically the game looks like its coming along very well. Nice smooth framerate, loads of detail and the character models look and animate well thus far (supposedly that is only an alpha build of the game!).

Check out the 4 (FOUR!!!) trailers for UC2 on this months Xbox Magazin Demo Disc. WOW. I'm talking jaw-dropping WOW.

Holy crap, that looks like fun!

I love the wall jumping, the shot blocking w/melee weapons, though I also love it when one guy pulls back out of a hand to hand and just blows the other character to sticky red paste.

I like what they did to Lauren, too. ;)

Some interesting news from the latest trailer and an article posted over at IGN...

The game is being published by Midway (which is older news, but is important for the next bit of news) and there will be some cross-over characters from one of Midway's biggest franchises... Mortal Kombat!

The MK voice is making an appearance as well - "FIGHT!", "END IT!" and "FINISH HIM!" among other quotes ;)

The trailer doesn't show much of which characters might be showing up (not that I could see, anyway), but the game still looks like it will rock. :tu: The cross-over seemed a little odd to me at first, but with the melee combat, I guess it's not totally out of place. Some of the latest gameplay footage looks pretty sweet.

Oh, the current ETA is next February, with a Live-compatible demo in January.

I know I'm quoting myself here, but since after seeing the Bloodrayne 2 thread, it seems that I may not be the only one on the board with some sort of affection for redhead undead type characters, I thought I'd post this link to character art of Lauren as a Necris ;)

I would have expected Sub-Zero or Scorpion and some others as well.

Agreed. I think they wanted to test the waters more than anything. See what kind of fan reaction they got to the addition of Raiden before doing anything else. They do mention some trepidation in how fans would react to them supposedly "selling out" the Unreal franchise by adding the characters...

It'd be nice if (assuming the fans don't scream their heads off about Raiden) they offered some other MK characters as downloadable content. :tu

Apparently Gamestop now has an Unreal Championship 2 demo disc that's LIVE enabled. They're giving them away with preorders. It hasn't been all good reviews, however. Most of the complaints center around things like choppy framerates and not being able to invert the Y axis. Still, for $5 I'm going to pick it up tonight or tomorrow.

So does anyone have the OXM with the UC2 demo on it yet?
Yeah, I played it a bit last week. (but mostly I played the lovely Splinter Cell 3 demo)

Deathmatch games aren't my thing really, I even got bored by Halo 2 online pretty quickly to be honest, but I was impressed by the beautiful, fast, & smooth visuals. I only played it for 5 minutes though, sorry I don't have anything else to add!
