That would certainly pose a problem Brian  . Any plans to make an acquisition soon?

I'm almost disappointed in myself that I never even heard of this until today. I've never been a very big puzzle fan but DD was a great game to just past the time. Another game to throw on my to buy list this month.

I'd love to pick one up, but too much other stuff has been a drain on our finances for me to splash the cash. Combine that with the aim of a trip back to the UK in October, and no big purchases for me.

Though it's my birthday this week, so maybe I'll get suprised.

I knew there was a sequel to Devil Dice in the works, didn't realise it'd get a US release.

  • 3 weeks later...

damn you! You had my poor overworked heart a going!

I can't wait for tomorrow. I've already warned my wife that tomorrow night is me kicking her ass in SCII and Devil Dice 2 night.

Also did you see where if you beat the game's Quest mode you open up an Original mode to play the multiplayer with DD1's rule set.

:lmfao: I came to the site today with the sole intention of trying to find anybody else who was excited about Bombastic, and out of curiosity the first thread I clicked on was this one. How perfect indeed. So have any of you guys picked it up yet? I'm really excited about it even though I just got into the first Devil Dice a couple of weeks ago. The new play mechanics sound interesting, but I'm glad you can still unlock the classic mode too. If anyone's got it already I'd love to hear your impressions.

I just grabbed a copy of this myself this morning - I had to take the display copy from Gamestop because it was their last one! They said they only got four to begin with. I know the first one is hard to find but I'm glad I got my hands on this one before it disappears too! Can't wait to see how it plays tonight!

Wow, I might have to get this. I've taken a few gambles on puzzle games and have come away disappointed (ZooCube, Super Bust-a-Move, and Super Bubble Pop)...just didn't grab me, although ZooCube was an interesting idea.

I really like puzzle games, and it's rare for one to get so many positive reviews.

Bust a Move didn't grab you? How the hell not?

Good question...not really sure. Just not my thing. I think part of it is that I've seen (and occasionally played) the game in arcades and bars for a long time, and it just kind of seemed stale by the time I got it at home.

Oh, and I'm a freak...often my favorite puzzle games are not popular (like Atomica on the PalmOS).

My initial impression is that this game rocks! There's a lot to like here, for one, I like the learning curve. You can easily make accidental matches, BUT you can also see how you need forethought to really score points. I know it's a very good sign when I start out with a puzzle game and slowly start to sense the patterns, gradually I can see more steps into the future. I love that feeling.

the rules are very simple, but they play out with nice brain-bending complexity. I sense a lot of hours spent playing this in my future.

Ed: I imagine it's because it would probably be pretty hard to read the numbers on the dice when they were scaled down so small. Sure, color-coding them would make it a little easier, but I think it might still be too hard to see.

Anyway, I love Bombastic - I was a bit worried I might not like the new play mechanics, but I think it plays great. And having classic mode just makes it even better. I also love the fact that the quest mode was twice as long as I first thought. It's great that my girlfriend loves the game as much as I do - she loves the cute little cel-shaded Aqui things - but she could still kick my ass ten ways to Sunday at the game, having trained on the original Devil Dice.

GigaPower: Yes, he gave me one hell of a hard time too!!! I found the best strategy was to match up twos, then maneuver one of the burning dice into position on the appropriate number. Once I figured that out it only took me about three chances to beat him. But still, it was freakin' crazy. When he spins around and messes up everything... so cheap!

thats exactly what I finally wound up doing, match up the twos and then roll one all around. Also it got alot easier once I realized that I could return to the starting point and use it as a safe point to avoid the laser rays and the bombs.
