The New Bat Mobile Revealed?

I am happy that they are going for something that looks more "practical" and that can do a job instead of going for the "that looks awesome" approach.

You know, for as much as I would like to curse WB for mishandling their comic book properties, Batman Begins is really shaping up to possibly be something very special <crosses fingers>

Guess I'm out of the loop here, but there's a new Batman movie in the works?

Si, senor. Directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento), starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Katie Holmes and Gary Oldman.

Also, David Goyer wrote the script and he is one of my favorite "genre" writers going right now. He has written all 3 Blade movies (and directed the upcoming third) and was a writer for Dark City.

I concur.

Batman should be a ghost's shadow. Bad guys don't even know what hit them, he is so damn quick and silent. Batman should be more Sam Fisher than Flaming Clown.

The Batmobile is pointless. Like you mentioned, it's like a Lambo - all screaming and waving its arms.

The proper, plausible Batman would drive a beater. Then again, the proper, plausible Batman would not have a big, bright spolight to alert the badguys, either.

Ugly, but clearly designed to look like its meant to do a job, rather than look fancy. I think I like - Wayne is working on a one-off in secrecy, so it shouldn't necessarily look like he's abducted Ron Dennis.

Mmm, I agree. This (and from what I hear from a friend at Shepperton) the costume too, are very much in league with the fact Bruce and Alfred cobbled together so much of Batman's gear from available materials instead of making things so sleek as if to say they constructed them in a private manufacturing wing of Wayne Manor.

The Batmobile in the film, so I am told, is based on an existing vehicle within the context of the story which is THEN modified slightly for crime fighting duties. Those I know at the studio have not personally read the script (as they are not working directly on the film, just know others who are) so what specific part in the context of the plot the initial vechicle plays I am unsure. Everything is apparently coming along shockingly well. I honestly wish I had offered my services for work on the film last year, damn it.

:lmfao: Sorry, I just get a mental image of a guy in the Batman costume, all intimidating, grimaced and ready to kick ass, puttering along crunched up in a tiny rusted old Civic to the scene of a crime.

Or, better yet, a 1985 1/2 Ford Escort. The true stealth car.

That would be sweet.

It would have to be called the "Bat," however, because it isn't very "mobile."

It looks fine, but, to be honest, I never liked the idea of a Batmobile.

Yessir, but then there wouldn't be any cool toys to buy 8)

I also find it funny that we're discussing what batman would drive IRL :D

It is a comic book, ya know. Fantasy. Not real. Besides, a dude dressed in a black cape and cowl with a big bat logo emblazoned on his chest, slinging little bat gadgets around would draw attention too, no?
