exile
Revolt! Holy smokes someone else plays that game. Our little lan group has made that our little game we play for racing when we get together. It is quite a cool game. I'm sure you'll agree. Camp
Don't take this the wrong way but I don't understand the point of posting screen shots of games running on our PCs. A static shot provides zero indication of the power of the PC. Post a screen shot with an on-screen FPS indicator and you might have something. Even more interesting (to me) would be to see your actual PC set-up. I could easily post a pic of Unreal Tourney '04 running on my older PC (1.4ghz athlon, Geforce 3) with an insane resolution and every effect on. The game would be running at 10 FPS but I could get a screen shot. Any graphical effect unsupported by the old GF3 would be virtually undetectable in a static screen shot. A static shot provides zero indication of the power of the PC. I dont much care about providing framerate Camp. The point of the thread is to display the graphics at high resolution (with any effects you wish to add such as AA or AF) so to as to admire the quality, art direction and overall "zing" of some of these graphically intensive games, or even some older titles that still have a certain charm even today. If you want to add a framerate display to your screenies feel free too, nothing wrong with that but if you'll forgive my bluntness, this thread wasn' meant as a "dick measuring" contest. Its more than anything a graphics admiration thread meant to show off how lovely some of these games can look when pushed to the max. If you are interested in actual framerate I can say that Armed and Dangerous and Morrowind both ran well with the settings I noted (around the 30fps mark with dips when the action got heavy but it was still suprising to see them maintain the FPS they did.) Kotor ran at an average of 20fps with some major dips in heavily populated areas and Planescape, well if that didn't run well for me I would have to wonder what is wrong with my comp. For posterity I added my PC specs for anyone interested. Doesn't this unofficially support higher res with the patch? Or am I thinking Baldur's Gate 2? Not that I know of. Baldurs Gate 2 supported higher resolution right out of the box and Icewind Dale got the high resolution support with its first expansion. Never heard of a patch for Planescape (and I looked for one too!)
Mark E
Never heard of a patch for Planescape (and I looked for one too!) Well, there is the update to version 1.1 that's on the Interplay site, that's the one I'm thinking of, but I can't remember if it does anything graphics-wise like that or not. Nope. Mainly bug fixes. If you have the 2 CD version of Planescape you don't need that patch either. Now on with the screenshots gentleman, game can be new or old. :tu:
Chris F
Ok, I'd like to contribute some Far Cry, UT2K4 and BF:V screenies to this thread. I have SnagIt and Fraps installed. I can screen capture with Fraps, but what are you guys using to downsize the .bmp files? My Far Cry screenies are about 4MB in size each - Thats at 1280x1024 res. We're also using this code for thumbnails: <URL=http://www.lcvg.com/pcscreens/tron2_full.jpg><IMG>http://www.lcvg.com/pcscreens/tron2_thumb.jpg</IMG></URL> Replace the "<" with "[". This requires you to have 2 image files, but keeps the initial load of the thread down a bit.

Here's that code again with the correct brackets: You can copy the above code wherever you want to use clickable thumbnails. I love Re-Volt It's really too bad it never made it out to the Xbox. IMO, it would have definitely been a better pack in than the originals (MotoGP and Whacked demos). I'd love to get an online game going one of these days if anyone is interested.

Covak
I'll search like mad for my copy of Re-Volt (can't remember the last time I saw it :?). I'd love to play some online. And if my PC didn't stink I'd be posting shots of the most beautiful game ever: Uru.
Romier S
More: Spellforce: 1280X1024 Max Detail 6XAA 16XAF: Average FPS: 22-24 zoomed out. 11-14 in third person with dips into the single digits when you enter the RTS sections of the game. High shadows completely kills the FPS in this game. Cranking the shadows down will bump your overall FPS over 15FPS even with all the other stuff cranked, pushing the game into an actually playable state! Romier S
Far Cry: 1280X960 Max Detail AA set to Full, AF set to 8 in the game menus Average FPS: 18-22 with spikes in the high 20's. Suprisingly the dips only went as low as 14-15, never below. Not bad considering all the shit this game is pushing!
Romier S
Disciples 2 Rise of the Elves (again for the old schoolers out there!) 800X600 Everything set to max: Average FPS: 85-

Check out this link, Camp. It's called True Desktop Project and it was started by a friend of mine who was also interested to find out what everyone's actual computer setup looked like. There are loads of entries sorted by month. Here's my desktop (old computer) for those interested.
