Romier S
Here is the official press release from Microsoft Studios and Artoon: Blinx 2: Masters of Time & Space Cat-apults Onto Xbox REDMOND, Wash. - April 29, 2004 - Blinx is back on the prowl! Microsoft Game Studios today announced that Blinx 2: Masters of Time & Space, the sequel to one of the best-selling Xbox? action-platformers, is in development and slated for a Holiday 2004 release. Blinx 2: Masters of Time & Space is the world's first 5-D game, giving players control over both Time and Space. Using customized characters, gamers can play Battle Mode either on one Xbox or over Xbox Live?. Players take on the persona of a heroic cat bravely taking control of time in order to face tough battles and puzzling challenges. Just like using a VCR remote control, players' customized cats have the power to slow down the action, pause, review, fast-forward, record and even combine them in challenging situations. As the story unfolds, players will need to step into the role of the enemy pigs to gain control of the space continuum in a variety of stealth missions. Players who create their own customized pigs will feel like they have control over black holes and worm holes. In development by Japan-based Artoon, Co. Ltd., Blinx 2: Masters of Time & Space allows gamers to enlist their friends to play in various multiplayer modes. Players can grab a friend and play through the story in two-player cooperative mode, compete in multiplayer Battle Mode with up to eight players via Xbox Live, or on one Xbox with four players. Gamers can choose to lead a squad of cats using time control powers or command a team of enemy pigs using space control powers. Blinx 2 allows players to fully customize their cats and pigs by designing the character's face, body and clothing. Additionally, gamers can customize their Xbox Live teams to reflect their unique style by designing uniforms, flags, emblems and even weapons. Not terribly high on the first game but the two player co-op on Live intrigues me.

rustyjaw
Pardon my ignorance, but are there are Live enabled platform games? Wouldn't this be a first of sorts?

Romier S
Nope no online platformers yet No online co-op as of yet at least. Keep in mind Ratchet and Clank 3 is also shipping with a heft online mode as well.

I'm going to be nitpicky here - they don't actually say you can play it coop online... They explicitly mention XBL in reference to the battle mode. Earlier in the press release they say "gamers can play Battle Mode either on one Xbox or over Xbox Live" too... To me, that looks like it's 2 player coop on one Xbox, 4 player battle mode on one Xbox, or upto 8 player battle mode over XBL...
Romier S
Very true Brian. I may have indeed misread the release. Though I think the world needs alot more online co-op games. I get sick to death of "battle" or "deathmatch" style online games. Let me play through the single player online with a friend and you've got my money. JoeyN
Ok i hope for online co-op then. Would be nice capt
rustyjaw
Let me play through the single player online with a friend and you've got my money. 100% agreed. Except that you wouldn't be able to call it single player any longer
Graeme
:? MS sees fit to give us this but not Pschonaughts? It better be damn good.
Josh
I'm really skeptical about the idea of co-op platformer play. Platformers are single-player games unless the levels are *specifically* designed for two-player co-op, like Cookie and Cream did a couple years back. Otherwise, how does this work? "Jump over this thing like I just did. Yay."
dogbert
MS sees fit to give us this but not Pschonaughts? It better be damn good. I don't like being a Microsoft defender, but since when does "good" matter? Ditching Psychonaughts was a business matter - how much did it cost so far, how much was it going to cost them, for how many sales? Same with Blinx2 - what's the costs, potential profits, and will it sell in Japan? etc.
Graeme
Oh, I'm well aware of business matters, but I'd much rather play Psychonaughts over Blinx 2.... unless it's good.
JoeyN
Im resurrecting the thread, as in the newest game informer they do a little preview and the game does not have online multiplayer at all capt
