Zathras
I mentioned in another thread that I ended up with two Saturn lots a few months ago (while on a classic gaming spree) and while I have a bunch of Saturn Games I don't feel that I've had the real "Saturn experience" yet. So what are the best games on the Saturn that aren't uber-rare eBay fodder? The current games I have are: Amok Andretti Racing Area 51 Astal Bug Too! Bug! Bust-a-Move 2: Arcade Edition Center Ring Boxing Clockwork Knight Clockwork Knight 2 Daytona Championship Circuit Edition Daytona USA High Velocity Manx TT Mortal Kombat II Mr. Bones NBA Jam Extreme NBA Live '97 NFL Quarterback Club 97 NiGHTS into Dreams Off-World Interceptor Extreme Panzer Dragoon II Zwei Revolution X Shanghai: Triple Threat Sonic R Three Dirty Dwarves Virtua Cop Virtua Cop 2 Virtua Fighter 2 Wipeout X-Men: Children of the Atom So I'm really lacking in the 2D fighter category which as I understand is Saturns strong suit. I am keeping an eye out for that copy of "Panzer Dragoon Saga" with a Buy-it-now of $20 but haven't come across it.

Calvin
Zathras, If you are into adventure-type games - then I'd recommend Enemy Zero & Lunacy. Two offbeat games to be sure, but worth the time IMO. Enemy Zero has invisible enemies - you need to use audio capabilities in order to detect them. Zathras
Thanks - Guardian Heros is expensive going to have to keep an eye out for a cheap one (yeah right) I have a bid on Enemy Zero and watching for Lunacy.
Chris F
Guardian Heros is one of the sole reasons I want to pick up a Saturn off Ebay.
Zathras
How text based is Guardian Heroes? - seems like the imports are going much cheaper
Chris F
How text based is Guardian Heroes? - seems like the imports are going much cheaper I don't really remember there being that much reading it it. At least not to the extent of an RPG. But it has been a while since I've played it, and I am getting old.

Romier S
Burning Rangers Castlevania Symphony of the Night (Saturn Import and even better than the PS1 classic) Grandia (you'll need a good guide to follow the story but this is the real version of the original)
Zathras
I didn't know about SOTN being better on it. That one moved to the top of my list Ah I take it that it is actually Called "Dracula X"
Zathras
very very interesting - I've been surfing ebay for the games you have recommended and have bid on one item. A few minutes ago I get a spam boasting a "SEGA SATURN BLOWOUT SALE" Which looks like the same titles which were in a lot auction this one company has like 10 of going. I checked and the names aren't similar but this has to be the biggest spam coincidence ever or they are cookieing me and finding out info. Now where is my tinfoil hat as I check out the headers. secretvampire
Castlevania Symphony of the Night (Saturn Import and even better than the PS1 classic) Why do you say this, Romier? I know it has the two small extra areas and a few extra items, but as I understood it, it is also pretty graphically inferior due to the Saturn not being able to do the same transparency effects? Romier S
but as I understood it, it is also pretty graphically inferior due to the Saturn not being able to do the same transparency effects? That is true but to my eyes the animations are a tad smoother with better transitions. It has its pluses and minuses. I own and enjoy both versions. (Its my favorite game of all time). The extras (more playable characters) on the Saturn version and the above mentioned give it a bit of an edge fo me.

Yeah, it is definitely one of my favorite games as well...if only the import version wasn't so darn expensive, I would give it a try. Well, not that it's THAT much, but hard for me to justify when I own the PS version. Back on topic...Guardian Heroes is cool, but I'm starting to wonder if it's worth what I paid for it on Ebay. I'm thinking of putting it back up for sale, but I'm undecided. I have been playing a lot of 2-D fighters though...X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Night Warriors, etc. Also, the import-only Dungeons and Dragons Collection is very, very cool for me, it was one of my favorite arcade games. I was really bummed when it got cancelled for domestic Playstation release many years ago.
Chris F
Count me into the "New Saturn Users" group. I used to own one way back when it first came out, but got rid of it shortly after. The past few weeks I've been really wanting to play some older games, specifically Nights, and I couldn't resist picking up a new Saturn off of Ebay today. I'm making a list of must-have games for it as I type this, and hopefully I'll be able to find a lot of them.

So far I've picked up: NiGHTs w/Controller Street Fighter Alpha 1/2 Fighting Vipers Night Warriors - Darkstalkers' Revenge Daytona USA/Virtua Cop/Virtua Fighter 2 - 3 Pack Sega Rally Championship I'm looking at: Sonic R Fighter's Megamix I really want, but can't find any new copies of: Panzer Dragoon/Zwei/Saga Radiant Silvergun - Although I'd have no idea how to play it on a US Saturn Virtua Fighter Remix Dragon Force Iron Storm Street Fighter Collection Guardian Heroes
GreenMonkey
I bought my Saturn for D&D collection, Shining Force 3, Panzer Dragoon Saga, (and 2D fighters)- only to find out how truly expensive they all are - I still don't have any of them! iainl
I picked up Athlete Kings for the princely sum of ?2.99 in a charity shop the other day, and while not quite the bargain my ?4.99 Go set was, its a right old laugh. Its Track & Field (or, more closely, Daley Thompson's Decathlon for all you Spectrum fans) with fancy graphics, but there are days when hammering run buttons and holding jump until you get 45 degrees is about all you can cope with. heavy liquid
I stopped by a local store called Game Spot, and was surprised to see that they had a good selection of Saturn games. In addition, they had buy 2 get 1 free for used games (did they get the idea from Toys R Us?)! I only picked up 3, but will probably go back next week for more. I bought: Night Warriors (English version) - glad I was finally able to get this fun Capcom 2D fighter... Galactic Attack (English version - called Layer Section in Japan) - fun shooter with decent graphics. Guardian Force (Japanese) - the clerk recommended this, and boy, am I glad I bought it! It's a top-down vertical shooter from 1998 by Success, but instead of the usual plane, you control a tank. But the best part is that there's a 2 player co-op mode. Fun! Not too bad for $40... dogbert
Damn, Guardian Force is a game I've been wanting to try for a while, it looks very interesting with some cool twists. Another "different" shooter I fancy is Kingdom GrandPrix - a top down shooter where you're driving a car.
iainl
Sounds really cool. I've been playing the hell out of Success's PS2 release Psyvariar since it arrived on Tuesday, and love it.
