blackcalx
At first I thought it was a joke, but it turns out the joke is on all of the rest of us. Andy Kaufman is appearantly alive and well after faking his death twenty years ago. I can't say that I know much about him, but I'm sure some of you do and I thought it would be of interest. Here is his own personal blog: http://andykaufmanreturns.blogspot.com/ and a snippet from the news article: New York City, NY (PRWEB) May 19, 2004 -- Twenty years ago, on May 16, 1984, most of the world believed that we had lost a comedic legend forever. This has turned out to be what will inevitably be known as the greatest comic prank ever conceived. Andy Kaufman, by all accounts, is alive and well at age 55 and is now living in New York City on the upper west side. To his loyal supporters and fans, Andy says "sorry about faking my death," in a recent interview with ABC News at his apartment. In order to reach legendary comic status and seal his place in the history of performance art, he said it was "necessary to go away for twenty years." EDIT: I was following links and it seems that the media outlet that wrote the press release, eMediaWire, has pulled the article, saying: We're sorry. This release has been placed on 'Dispute Hold'. Mark E
The fact that this claim is basically blog-based makes me go... 'huge hoax'. I saw this on Yahoo last night and like the EA thing, smells fishy. The odds of this being true are utterly minute, if you ask me. Cool if it WERE true, but so, so, so damn unlikely. Especially the blog thing, shit, nobody is going to do that sort of thing via a blog.
Angry the Clown
Especially the blog thing, shit, nobody is going to do that sort of thing via a blog. Least of all him, surely. To go and post about it in a blog lacks his brilliance it must be said, so I'll side with the hoax feeling for now as it seems a very bland way to say "gotcha" and not in the least bit his style.... EnemaEms
I agree with Dan 100%. However, if Andy really did fake his death and he was alive, that would be the ultimate joke. -Dean-
