Sale/Trade/Bargain Forum?

First thing I'd recommend is that any for sale board is only visible to members; it stops prying eyes of nasty things seeing personal stuff.

Second is that I'd suggest that shop offers are placed either in General or the relevant console, rather than For Sale or Controller Down, as they don't need the hiding and are on-topic.

But thats just my thoughts.

I don't remember any DC games about Turkish hats...

Can I make one suggestion about a forsale/wanted forum? Do not allow "professional" traders in it - ie one must be an active participant in the forum to make posts in it. On a couple of DVD forums I visit, there's one particular trader who /only/ posts his (overpriced) for sale/trade list. He's got huge post counts but that's literally all he ever posts. Annoys me :)

-I completely agree, I can't stand Dealers clogging the boards. Altough, I imagine it'd be a pain to police for'em. I guess if you had some sort of program script that was able to quickly scan the forums for content other than sales it'd make the job of nixing the dealers easier. But, I have no clue about how these sites are constructed and managed?

-P.S. Here's a hint, ...it's not Aez, Bez, Cez, Dez, Eez, Fez, Gez, Hez, Iez, Jez, Kez, Lez (too bad  ) , Mez, Nez, Oez, Pez, Qez, Sez, Tez, Uez, Vez, Wez, Xez, Yez, or Zez!

Though I agree with dogbert (and the other ideas above), how will you define and police that, exactly?

Someone also suggested that only regular posters can trade.

Will you say "he/she doesn't contribute enough so he/she isn't allowed to offer items for sale"? How much is "enough"?

On other sites, I've seen limitations of "your post count must be over x" before you're allowed to enter the for/sale section (or sections like it). Does that stop them from posting 100 times & never posting outside the fs area? No, but it's a help.

One thing I'll add: if such an area opens, it will require extra tough modding. Not more mods, just one really good & fair one to keep an eye on "problem sellers" or spammers.

I have a question about the rules in regards to this passage:

No Price or "interest" checks, there is no bidding allowed either. Only post if you have something you want to sale/trade or are looking for.

If I understand the principle of the rule LCVG is attempting to avoid price trolling, which I can completely understand. However, there are times when somebody truly just wants to get rid of something regardless of the selling price. By the letter of the law "Make an offer" is not allowed. How would this situation best be handled?

Thanks for the hard work in getting us the new board. It's a nice addition to an already great site.
