MrMike
So I picked this up yesterday and proceed to get whooped by the CPU in a major way. Now granted I suck at football games but I want to learn. Any tips? I seem to have a major problem with calling the right defense. I tend to do ok on offense (not great but just ok). BertEbony
Odd, none of the Madden threads I see are getting much action..even my Cube review . Well I worked on up to whoop on All Madden, I suggest to you do the Mini Camps.
Romier S
Odd, none of the Madden threads I see are getting much action..even my Cube review I think you'll find alot of folks waiting on ESPN and even Fever for the online play on the Xbox (I would imagine for the XSN). I always like dipping into a football game every year (even though I know nothing about the sport). I may give Madden a try.
BertEbony
Wow, in my neck of the woods everyone is hopped up on Madden, and good reason to be. It is gaming vicadin. Personally, I think ESPN has nothing on Madden, the franchise has me so occupied that even if I had online play, I wouldn't get to it. That's my .07?. -Bert
Darius
ESPN is just a different game. I'm going to end up with 4 football games this year. Already bought NCAA and Madden. Next up is Fever and ESPN. ESPN last year was a far better simulation of the NFL. This year Madden really stepped up its DB AI finally so its more competitive. I guess the real test will be to see which one I'm still playing in october. But right now Madden is a hell of a lot of fun since I got good all-pro sliders. Check out the football 101 section. Madden pretty much explains every single play and then lets you practice them. Just got this game yesterday(along with my ps2 ) and so far its been pretty fun. As a pc sports gamer Im very impressed with off-field detail in the owner mode. This is going to suck up a lot of my time.
MrMike
After just doing some single games I decided to start a franchise. Played my first preseason game. I picked the bears (mistake). It was against the colts in the first game. The computer went up 17-0 pretty quick. I scored 2 td's to get to 17-14. He kicked a field goal, 20-14. I scored again late in the 4th so 21-20 to take the lead. I manage to hold back the computer as he marched down the field. 4th down and 8. I select punt return and the stupid computer decides to go for it! I couldn't figure out how to call an audible to change my defense so no defense setup and he easily scores a touchdown to win 27-21. I was so pissed. Ok, so the CPU is NOT supposed to go for it that far out! I couldn't believe it. And in real life if that does happen the defense would be quick enough to switch on its own without the coach telling them to do so.
Darius
In the 4th quarter they should most definately go for it if they're down by one and out of FG range. If there was less than 3 mins they would be stupid to not. Because it would be very easy to run the clock out. What you could do next time is just call a timeout and pick a different play. But it tells you what their formation is and it will say punt when they are actually going to punt it. Just use it as a learning step. Ktulu
The one thing that is really pissing me off about this game is late in a blowout it takes forever for the computer to run down the clock.
