SEGA Ages: Classics Collection

Combining four of the 3D Ages-developed remakes of past SEGA software, Classics Collection will feature redone versions of Fantasy Zone, Golden Axe, Monaco GP, and Space Harrier. All four games will include redone soundtracks, graphics, and mode types. Expect to see it on store shelves sometime near the end of fall, beginning of winter 2004.

SEGA Ages: Phantasy Star Trilogy

Kind of bizarre because its missing Generations of Doom, Phantasy Star Trilogy will boast the remade iterations of Phantasy Star: Generation 1, Phantasy Star II, and Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millennium. Just like the Classics Collection, Phantasy Star Trilogy will boast improved graphics, enhanced soundtracks, and additional features not present in the original versions of the games. RPG fans should mark their calendars now; PST is due to hit retailers in Q1 2005.

Sega's not releasing these, it's Conspiracy.

Expected by many to be declined by the Sony Approval Board if they attempted to be released individually, the titles in question were often speculated to be collected into some kind of compilation set should they ever hope to see the light of day on our side of the ocean.

How dare SCEA want value for money!! ;) By all accounts, full price for these individually would be a giant ripoff.

Speaking of a conspiracy, why ISN'T Generations of Doom there? :P

To sell the GBA compilation? ;)

Are you talking in terms of the fact that they're old games or the quality of the porting, Brian?

And somebody should pass that on to Nintendo, btw :green:

Little bit of A, little bit of B. The "various game" pack in particular supposedly suffers from some mixed quality of porting. I belive the Phantasy Star ports are much better quality. I don't think a remake of Afterburner of Monaco GP offers $40 value and the compliation is definitely a good idea for Conspiracy. Remember, these were budget releases in Japan.

Oh, agreed about the pricing, but I didn't know if you'd heard/experienced anything regarding the port quality. I assumed you were saying that because of the pricing, but all things considered I knew it was likely you'd heard/experienced the ports themselves :).

Don't think they were ever schedule to be released at such a price. I have the available Japanese releases and they cost me 17.99 a piece and were rumored to be released here at a 19.99 price point. As far the porting, PS is by far the best one while some of the others are a tad spotty (especially Golden Axe). To tell you the truth I'mnot complaining about about this recent news though ;) .
