Sam P
I'll be heading to Toronto for a vacation around the 19th of this month. I'll probably spend a week or so there to take in the city. I need some recommendations from locals. What are must-sees? Keep in mind I'll be going with family (parents and brother). Antone? Covak? Others? Big thanks! Thrillho
I spend the summer of 2000 working in Toronto, very nice city. Some things i did while I was up there. Hockey Hall of Fame: In all honesty I was kinda dissapointed in this. I'm a huge hockey fan and the fact you enter the hall through a mall put a real unease in me. I found the displays lacking. The whole first part of the Hall is like one big suck up to Gretzky. However the cup room is really cool and a must see for any hockey fan. Take the tour of the Skydome. It really is incredible, if not, at least see a game there. Goto CN Tower restaraunt. Its the tallest man made structure in the world right now. You can look right down into the skydome also if the roof is open. There are some good places to eat also, from regular to upscale. The two I remember the most are Gretzky's (bar and restaraunt type place, just stay away from the cheeseburger, thats the one food I found they can't seem to get right up there, all there burgers seemed extrememly salty to me. Also on the upscale was teh Harbor 64 steakhouse very expensive, very good. Go see the castle(can't remember the name) but its a good family tour. They have a ton of tours and buses that run to it. Goto Blue lagoon massages...oh waite that really wasn't a family place Go see a show at Second City, extremely funny.

rustyjaw
I went to Toronto twice in the nineties, but trust me, the places I hung out aren't places you'd enjoy. Really enjoyed the city though.
Chris F
It's about an hour to Niagara Falls Dude, it's like 2 hours to the Falls from Toronto. Unless you're driving like 90 miles an hours. LOL Toronto is my home away from hom. I'm moving up there eventually. I love it. Things to see: CN Tower Skydome The Brass Rail aww yeah Casa Loma (THis was the mansion in X-men) THere is so much to see there, and so much to do. Just go, wander around downtown, go to the waterfront, hit "The Beaches" area, do everything. You'll LOVE it.

Covak
I'm a huge hockey fan and the fact you enter the hall through a mall put a real unease in me. Considering the whole downtown core is connected underground by mall after mall, that actually seems natural to me Has Ontario Place been mentioned yet? It's not terrible exciting, but it's a nice place to visit on a nice day. I think the IMAX theater there was the first one, and they're usually showing cool stuff on it. The whole place is really more for the little kiddies, though. Seems others who have just visited Toronto know the city better than I do If you wanna see something stupid, the busiest Wal-Mart in North America (in the busiest mall in North America) isn't far from Toronto. It's quite a sight on a Saturday afternoon =)
ant1
Hey Sam, sorry just saw this post, been busy lately(just became a daddy on monday:D) . Keep in mind I do not do the tourist stuff and it's already been mentioned above. Check out Queen st. w(young trendy) for shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, people watching...lots of girls your age ,go on a sunny day. College st. same as above but a little older (30s up). chinatown(s), little india, little korea, little italy.... tons of little/large ethnic diverse pockets for kick ass food and obscure goodies. Yonge street for your downtown Toronto experience, doesn't really float my boat.Best thing about it someone mentioned already-Brass Rail(strip joint). If parents are into high end shopping or you are- Bloor west of Yonge, keep going and you hit a couple of museums, keep on going and you hit the Annex, university area see Queen/College st. with a student bend. Escaping at night from the parents to get your game on , Richmond st w -entertainment district chock a block with clubs and people looking to get laid. Harboufront is also very cool, pick up a schedule for it as it's very eclectic. Want to get away for a day take the ferry and hit the island, great view of Toronto, beaches, nude sunbathing on some, bike trails.... nature. If you stay till the 26th it's Pride day which is an absolute blast whatever your sexual preference, usually hits a million people all on a party/pride tip. Ok that's a real quick, rough, loose guide. But my real tip is go to Montreal instead!
Sam P
Thanks, guys!! Some bad news, though. Some unforseen circumstances mean it'll be put off till at least end of August. Oh well. I'll still make sure I see it some day. Will keep this thread handy.

Wouldn't it be easier to declare an area "Little Toronto" and let the other areas be free-range? Last time I was in Toronto my host insisted that the "local" dance troupes" are worth seeing, but we never got around to helping any out. -j
