Whooter
I bought this stuff today. Should be here on Friday so I have the weekend to put it together.
blackcalx
Nice! Seeing all of that makes me want to build another system. I suppose I could simply upgrade the mobo and CPU and be happy, but I really enjoyed building my system.
The Daisy
Not too shabby. I'm sure you'll be using that system in Paragon City in no time. Glen
Whooter
Yeah, it was the closest thing I could get to a Shuttle Cube without paying the extra $200 for the privilege. Plus the Shuttle's have nForce 3 150 chipsets, which aren't good, according to my prior conversations.
MrJames
AMD just launched the socket 939 processors yesterday. They're pretty pricey but I still plan on getting one in the coming months.
Whooter
Yeah, that's what I was waiting on. When they didn't roll out anything that really knocked my socks off (pricewise), I decided to go with Socket 754 instead.
Ryan FB
Looks good! What kind of video card are you going to be running in it? I bought the ND-2500A as well, and I absolutely loved it. Then I put a modified firmware on it that lets me burn 4x-rated DVD+/-R's at 8x, and now I love it even more  :tu:. It also somehow manages to hand my LiteOn 48x CD-R drive it's ass, even though it only burns CD-R's at 32x. You can flash the 2500A with a 2510A firmware to enable dual-layer writing, but I'll be holding off on trying that until DL media is reasonably priced and I'm sure it won't kill the drive. I'm using Prodisc 4x -R media right now, and out of ~50 burns so far at 8x I haven't had any coasters or problems. Great media, and you can get it at about $0.50/ea. I had previously tried Matrix/Longten 4x media from shop4tech at 4x with the original firmware, and out of 100 about 20% were coasters :?. kelley
Joel, I hope you don't some of the issues with taht Aria case that I've read about others having. I noticed you bought the 3200+...big spender!

Radeon 9700 Pro You'll have to hook me up with the firmware that lets me burn 4x media at 8x, man... Joel, I hope you don't some of the issues with taht Aria case that I've read about others having. Hm. What've you heard? I noticed you bought the 3200+...big spender! Yeah, I wanted the 1MB L2 cache. If I was a really big spender, I'd have grabbed 3400+, but the performance gain wasn't worth another $100+.
kelley
Hm. What've you heard? Basically is just has REALLY poor air flow in the case, several people have experienced heat related issues. Oh and here is what I plan to order.

The nForce 150 chipset isn't bad at all, unless you plan on overclocking the system. The 150 was supposed to have the PCI/AGP lock, but nVidia couldn't get it working properly until the 250 was released. Regardless, congrats on the new toy, Joel :tu:
kelley
150's HT bus was also the slower then the K8T800 chipset and it lacked native SATA, which to me is a big no-no.
Ryan FB
You'll have to hook me up with the firmware that lets me burn 4x media at 8x, man... You can grab it and see discussion here. I think this is the last version he'll be making without the dual-layer modification.

The link doesn't seem to have any Wish List attached to it, Kelley. That'll certainly be inexpensive...

The Daisy
With my last PC, I just gave up on building systems. I've been building my own for the last 8 years, and I just don't see much of a cost and/or parts benefit anymore. I put together a Dell system that I found off Gotapex.com for less than it would have cost me to build the same system. At that point I figured it was time to give up on the building project, and start getting a warranty. Glen
Orpheus
Let me know how it goes for you, what you bought is exactly like my shopping cart right now although i keep going back and forth between the Aria and Sonata cases (along with the proper mobo). Not as soon as I'd hoped. :? I got all the pieces parts, but I neglected to secure an HSF retention mechanism (the mobo either does or doesn't come with one, depending on who you talk to). I'm about to make a trek to MicroCenter, in hopes that they have one, otherwise I'm out of commission until at least Monday for the new box... Gah. Orpheus
Joel, How's the Aria working out for you?
Whooter
So far, so good. After some initial trepidation regarding possible overheating (false alarm), I'm liking it. It *is* a challenge to work inside of, but nothing too terribly difficult. You have to plan out some strategy as to where cables, etc are going to run without blocking airflow. It's pretty quiet and very cool-looking.
