Carlucci
Now that we can link our Xbox LIVE gamertag to our MSN messenger account, it's a good time to share your MS-Messenger ID with everyone. This way we can see who might be online on their PC but not logged in to Xbox LIVE, rather than just sending out blind invites to offline LIVE'ers. Messenger even lets you group your friends, so you can get creative and group by game. By holding down CTRL while dragging to a group, you can put friends in more than one group. So you can make a group for FSW, RS3, etc. And by cross-referencing Joey's Gamertag List, you can know who has what game at a glance. Make sure you update your IM in your profile by clicking "my controls", but also post it here. I am mendocd@hotmail.com Carlos.
Kain rising
j_d_hopper@hotmail.com is the address for me, though it should still show up as Kain rising (at whatever point it is that MSN Messenger gets the "screen name").

blackcalx
I'm blackcalx@hotmail.com. I'm a Trillian user, though, so I'm not sure how much that will help.
Graeme
I'm a Trillian user, though, so I'm not sure how much that will help. Ehhh, I'm not sure how that would matter. If you're on XBL those that are using Messenger will still be notified and see you, and if you're connected to MSN through Trillian they can see that and send you messages. That is the whole point of Trillian right? My stuff along the bottom is all up to date. You can add me onto MSN, Yahoo and ICQ and AIM if you really feel the need. I simply meant that Trillian does not support the newer Live features of MSN Messenger. For chat reasons I'm good to go, but I refuse to reinstall MSN on principle. Carlucci
Just thought of another use for this. It can kinda sorta provide the functionality that a lot have asked for: Graciously turning down an invite with a reason. If you get an invite from someone via your IM alert, you can IM them back the reason why you had to decline. They may not get the IM until later, since they are playing at the time, but it still is better than nothing. Carlos.

Covak
covak@hotmail.com I'm using Trillian, though, so no fancy new Live features for me. I tried real MSN Messenger for a few minutes, to see the new Live panel, and I just couldn't stand it!
boogieman
thomasgarza@hotmail.com This weekend I should have my network up, so I can be on LIVE and the internet at the same time. Wahoo! :tu:

Beer Monkey
So the Trillian guys can still link their accounts, and will still receive invite messages, right? The only thing they don't get for Live is the ability to view the (non-interactive) friends list in Messenger?
ColdForged
Dunno. I don't know what I get to tell the truth. So far I've gotten bupkus.
Beer Monkey
Dunno. I don't know what I get to tell the truth. So far I've gotten bupkus. Until somebody sends you an invite from the XBox dashboard while you are logged into Trillian, I wouldn't expect you would get anything at all. Which is what the rest of us get, except for the ability to view a non-interactive Friends list (that doesn't link to an email address or messenger name). The thing I'd most like to see is the ability to message people by gamertag without memorizing their Messenger id (email addy).
ColdForged
Do you have control over the display name that you send out? I know in my current list, Carlucci and blackcalx show up as just that, but you show up as "stclair@fuse.net". I believe I'm sending out "ColdForged" as a display name. Failsafe
I believe their e-mail address is displayed until they authorize to be on your contact list. And yes, you can put whatever name you want to be known as by setting it in the options menu.
blackcalx
I haven't used MSN for awhile so I can't speak to that, but with Trillian you can toggle between the email address and the "friendly" name. Trillian (and I believe MSN as well) also allows you to rename a contact. For ease of recognition I have renamed every one of you to your LCVG name. Yea you can on MSN (not sure of Trillian). I think it's under "View" or "Format" (can't exactly remember which one). But then go down to "options" and change it there. I tend to change my every once in a while to amuse myself.
Graeme
So the Trillian guys can still link their accounts, and will still receive invite messages, right? No, the XBL features of MSN use the MSN alerts engine, which is not supported by Trillian. It's not the same as receiving IMs from people.
