kelley
FilePlanet is currently offering a free 14-day trial for Galaxies, all you have to do is download a 1.8GB file. I downloaded mine last night and plan to try it out. Can't wait to see my first dancing wookie.
The Daisy
1.8GB? I can handle that. I should be on tomorrow. Glen

The Daisy
I just got it loaded. Um, after playing CoH. I don't know if I can get into this. The interface just seems...wrong somehow. I'll probably give it a bit more time tomorrow. I'll get my server and character info then. Glen
kelley
After an hour of play here are my impressions: As soon as I stepped foot on Tantooine I saw someone broadcast a message asking for people to bring containers for him to open up so he could get XP........opening containers for XP, this isn't City of Heroes....and so it begins. Menu System: Horribly over complicated Controls: I think its great that they give you several options for defaults, I spent about 20 minutes getting the controls the way i like them and that alone has helped me out a lot. Gameplay: Can't really say much here as I haven't experience much gameplay besides walking around. Graphics: Pretty good, nothing mind blowing though. Sound: Very true to Star Wars, sounds great. Overall: So far the only thing I can really say about SWG is that it looks and seems like its got a very steep learning curve.....oh and the game definetely seems too overly complicated. NickC
if you guys create characters on intrepid I can help ya out, the control is different from CoH no doubt, when i played CoH after playign this for a year, i thought the same thing.... oh, and this game is very complicated, CoH is much easier pick up and play, much more casual gamer, not to demanding, swg is deep and takes a long time to learn everything, lots of micro management for certain classes as well if your on intrepid contact, petra or xess, and ill get yah started... Romier S
Graphics: Pretty good, nothing mind blowing though. Default graphics settings are set to less than disireable Kelley. SWG includes a BEVY of graphical options including resolution/pixel shader use/draw distance/level of detail settings/flora distance settings/shadows etc... You'll want to tweak the graphics until you find an acceptable compromise between pretty and framerate. One thing SWG is not is ugly. When you pump up the graphics the game is gorgeous and runs very well (if you have the computer to handle it).

Ain't that the truth, I played the game near max setting for the first month after release, since then i have decided frame rate was much more important. NickC
ok, ill get you some armor and weapons, just let me know what fighting class you are looking to pick up if any, SWG is in a tough place right now, as the combat system and PVP will be seeing a complete revamp by the end of the summer. kelley
I'm not really sure what combat class i want to pursue....I was thinking of going brawler in this one as my CoH character is a blaster.
NickC
ok, brawler, is a basic profession, to be able to do any kind of serious damage you will need to be an elite profession, as far as the brawler ones go, Teras Kasi, Fencer, and Swordsmen are all great classes in their own right, pikemen is a little broken, but the previous three are definatly a lot of fun... kelley
I'm still trying to come to grips with the control system among other things. But I did bump up the display settings last night, and yes that helps the game out a lot.
kelley
ok, i think i've the basics down. i trained in three novice skills, Marksman, Brawler, and Scout. My opinion on the game is really starting to improve.
NickC
anyone still playing?
The Daisy
Nah. I never got a chance to mess with it again after my initial play of it. I just got right back into CoH, and didn't look back. Glen
DataTox
I tried a few times, but I just couldn't figure it out. One thing I will say is that it looks very, very nice. Chris
