Not as bad as i thought it was going to be really. Wish I could say the same. Had my widsom teeth pulled back in 1995 on a Thursday. Went that weekend to cover a Star Trek convention for the public access show I was on at the time & I was in so much pain that I couldn't do my interview with Ethan Phillips (Neelix from ST:Voyager). So the other host does the interview, & then Mr. Phillips (a true class act!) came over to me & asked if I needed some help or some water. I told him what had happened & he said something about a family member having a bad experience & that I should go see a doctor. So I go. Turns out the stupid surgeon broke off one of the teetn & it was still imbedded in my jaw. I got both an abcess & an infection. My jaw swelled shut big time & the last thing I remember is passing out from the pain when the forced it open when I had my surgery. Spent 4th of July week in the hospital But,hey, at least I got to meet a really cool actor!

Kain rising
A co-worker ended up getting an infection in her jaw after getting her wisdom teeth pulled, then had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic, and when it was all said and done, has permanently lost feeling in about half of her mouth and tongue. She was a little too trusting of the surgeon though when he kept saying "oh, feeling will come back, just give it a while". When talking to another dentist later, she might have been able to get some of the damage reversed if she had gotten a second opinion sooner. Jeff W
When I had my wisdom teeth pulled they wouldn't knock me out because I had driven myself there and they wouldn't let me drive home afterwards, just had a few painful shots. The thing I'll never forget though is the sound of the teeth cracking from inside my head, that and the dentists assistant wincing.
JFo
I was one of the lucky ones who got knocked out when I had my wisdom teeth removed. When I was out, I was out too. I had them removed after my first week of finals at college, so I didn't get much sleep that whole week. Furthermore, I couldn't sleep the night before the procedure was done and I stayed up until at least 3 in the morning trying to get the invisibility cheat on Goldeneye. Ah, memories! Anyway, the lack of sleep plus the drugs put me out real good and I pretty much slept the entire day away. It was weird because I would take a nap for a few hours wake up, and think, "There's no way I'll be able to fall back asleep again." Sure enough, an hour or two later I'd be passed out once again. For the record, I did manage to get the cheat that night. Ah, memories!
Sam P
I was nicely knocked out for mine, too. And no painful healing process afterwards. I was lucky.
Robot Monkey
My God, my wisdom tooth extraction was a nightmare. For some reason they went in through my ass, and then they televised the whole procedure on a pay-per-view webcam.

Guest Bryan
Anybody keep theirs? I soaked mine in a clorox/water mixture to get all the meat off - they look as good as new seventeen years later. My mommy took me to a comic book store too, Glen! I was completely knocked out and took some portable drugs the second I woke up. Never felt a thing.
kelley
god i don't remember post that at all. according to the doctor i woke up in the middle of the operation and told them to "hurry the fuck up" and then immediately went back to sleep. I remember waking up and asking my wife if it was over and her saying yes and then walking myself into the lobby of the place, which according to my dad was packed, and telling my dad let's go to fucking best buy. apparently on the ride home i kept on asking why aren't we going to best buy. thats about all i remember from yesterday before 3pm. Overall the pain isn't too bad, the thing that hurts the worse is my cheeks from the swelling. The worse thing about this whole thing is..........I can't smoke for a week. Cathartic
You guys are lucky, all I got was novacaine. I'll never forget the the guy practically climbing up onto my chest to yank 'em out. I just moaned in agony. Yeah, that about sums up my Wisdom Tooth experience. It didn't make me feel any more comfortable when, before the procedure, the oral surgeon told me about his dental school days, when he would sneak into rooms to suck on some nitrous oxide when he felt stressed. What really got me was when he was trying to get out the lower-right tooth (which later had to be fractured for removal)... his exact quote, while nearly dislocating my jaw was, "Why the hell won't this damn thing come out?!". It was quite an experience.
Cathartic
let's go to fucking best buy ROFL!! Classic! , the thing that hurts the worse is my cheeks from the swelling. Actually yeah - the worst part about the recovery was that the removal of the teeth changed my bite - so I kept catching the back of my right cheek between my back two molars. It swelled up and formed a sore. Freakin PAINFUL.

My wife got me a blockbuster movie pass thing, so far I've watched 5 movies: Mystic River - excellent film Along Came Polly - ok, worth watching Welcome to Mooseport - snore....... Dummy - really good indie film Pitch Black - Never saw this before, i liked it
