foogledricks
It has been tough trying to find the best camcorder for me. This one seems to have all the goods. No product is perfect though, and this one has a few gotchas, but they are minor compared to all the great features. Any thoughts? I could buy this now for $680 shipped and it retails for $999! Camp
Brand? I'm afraid I haven't taken the time to memorize the model numbers of all the camcorders on the market.
foogledricks
Sorry about that... I was being haste because my wife was yelling at me from across the condo. It is the Panasonic PV-GS200 and here is one detailed review: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/panas...rder-review.htm Highlights -3CCD camcorder! -Top Loading Tape -Manual control options (Focus Ring!) -Analog-->Digital passthrough -Good low light performance -Web Cam Features -Remote Control for VCR and camcorder -excellent handling reviews. Lowlights -poor LCD -poor image stabalizer -no true 16:
The Daisy
Look at the PV-GS953. A much better camera for the money. It would be about $300 more, but it's got a ton of great features. http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod...50/search=pv-dv Glen
foogledricks
Thanks for the info! I definitely looked at the GS953, but it has one attribute that turns me away. It is significantly heavier and bigger than today's tiny camcorders, and I really value size/weight. The GS200 is also bigger and heavier than the smallest of small, but not as much as the GS953. I understand that the GS200 is the replacement for the 953 and that the 953 has been discontinued. This is all very hard. Every camera has a shortfall, whether it is price, size, quality, battery life, features. Not quite as difficult as my HDTV purchasing experience, but right up there. The Daisy
Actually, there is another camera that will be the replacement for the 953. That one will be the GS400. It supposed to be the bee's knee's, but it isn't out until July 4th, from what I've read. I've heard that the GS200 is a very good camera though.
