No weapons! Bit suprised at that - the original didn't have them, but it seems to be the trend to have weapons in futuristic racers.

A journo mate described it as Carve 2 in a lot of way...

Sounds accurate. Power Drome isn't terribly remarkable but it's still a very competent game. The sound is great, the feel of going ridiculous speeds is a lot of fun, and I liked it enough to get it only because of the online aspect anyway. The graphics are "good enough," which means you can tell what everything is. ;) There's not much ast all in the way of style as in F-Zero or Wipeout and overall the environments look plain and dull (so far). But there's enough camera tricks and particle effects here and there to make the game more impressive when you're going 700mph.

My big complaint is that the voice acting is too repetetive. By the third time the main female lead said "dammit" I was ready to hit the mute button.

On the plus side it seems like this game has almost 20 tracks and a lot of characters with variety in reegards to how their ships behave, so I see this being a sleeper hit on LCVG like Carve.

It called taking a breather from City of Heroes gentleman. Take a step back, move away from the keyboard and forget about your avatars for a day or two. ;) (I know its like asking a crack addict to put down his pipe but I figured I'd try :D ).

You have no one to blame, but yourself :P

I know. I rue the day I ever bothered to post impressions on that damnable game. ;)

Im really looking forward to at least giving this one a try for a little bit tonight. I have to be up at 7am tommorrow morning so I can't be up to late but I have enough time to move along a little in SH4 and take this for a test drive.

I played the original Powerdrome way back in the day on my Amiga. Thought it was great!

But, I really cannot get into this version, at all. I think the handling physics are way to "slippery". Can't describe it any other way.

I LOVE the feel to Wipeout but, this feels way too fake for me. Yes, I realize that Wipeout is fake as well but, there is some real, simulated (oxymoron?) aerodynamics in the Wipeout series.

I don't get that feel at all with this game.

Took it back.

Well, that being said, who owns it still? I liked it but I'm keeping it for the online aspect and from the looks of it you guys are the only folks I'm planning on playing it with. Will this be another Clone Wars where you guys will have matches on a semi-decent basis or should I eBay it? :?
