Robot Monkey
Hey, neat, there's a Trivial Pursuit game coming with Xbox Live support and a $30 MSRP. In addition to the Classic mode there is an "unhinged" mode: In Unhinged mode, players can now steal wedges, bet as to whether other players will answer correctly, earn and spend bonus points, as well as a plethora of additional special moves and squares that keep the game entertaining. Some more information is available in what looks like a press release on TeamXbox. -j

Graeme
Will it be Multiple Choice?
Robot Monkey
Will it be Multiple Choice? I wish I knew. Because it's Live, I don't see why it couldn't be more old fashioned. You could say your answer and then the card is flipped over. If everyone agrees you got it right you move on. But I really don't know. -j

You could say your answer and then the card is flipped over. If everyone agrees you got it right you move on. That's what I was wondering too. If you were playing with people you trusted, it could work, but that would be nearly impossible to enforce in a random game.
rustyjaw
I like the sound of this. You guys are right though, if it's an 'honor system' it won't work with people you don't know, unless you're very lucky.
Robot Monkey
It would be nice to include consensus answers as an option or mode (and I was happy to see they are including a classic game mode along with the funky new one). -j
Calvin
I can see a lot of bragging rights up for grabs here. I'm all over this one
Hank Scorpio
$30 is the right price. This should be a good time.
Zathras
sounds good to me - I'm sure like Tetris it will be a more sociable game. Now that they are getting into board games Monopoly is a natural...
Camp
If it's multiple choice it's going to be far to easy. That said, if it's not multiple choice typing is gonna suck. Any of you guys play that NTN trivia at bars & restaurants? I play it all the time...fun shit while you're drinking. Trivial Pursuit is easy by comparison. Camp
Oh, and I agree... Bring back You Don't Know Jack. That shit was FUN! oh, and bring it back with the original announcer. Not that Dweezil Zappa fool from the horrible TV show.
Graeme
Wasn't Paul Reubens the host of the TV show?
Mark E
Wasn't Paul Reubens the host of the TV show? Yeah, I guess he figured he needed the exposure.

I tend to own the place when I play, but maybe I play against losers. Or maybe it's because I'm the only sober one.
Camp
I might be confused but I think Pee Wee was announced and then replaced by the annoying Zappa before the show began. Then again, I may be thinking of a different trivia game show. The more I think about it...I do think Zappa hosted a copycat show.
Mark E
Then again, I may be thinking of a different trivia game show. You are. I watched YDKJ (I was number 4 of 5 for its viewership ) and I can confirm Reubens did host it, as a character whose name eludes me. I kinda liked the show, it got some of the humor of the game down pat. My favorite part was the million dollar question where he had to finish the question before the contestants could answer, and every week they had some ridiculous reason why the question didn't get finished until it was down to like a buck fifty. The best one was when a horde of ninjas descended from the ceiling and Reubens fought them off while the question ticked down. I like that kind of insanity though . iainl
Err, its just me, but what's to stop people doing this with: 1) A copy of Midtown in cruise mode. 2) A 'GM' type with the board and questions. 3) Trust in that GM, and that the contestants aren't sitting in front of Google. Robot Monkey
Nothing, I guess, Iain. Here's a feature they should implement in Trivial Pursuit of XBL forthwith: when you get a question right, everybody has to listen to your custom soundtrack until someone else gets a correct answer or for one song minimum. -j
Robot Monkey
Gamespot has attached a 24 Feb 04 release date to the title, Trivial Pursuit Unhinged. A news item there gives the following list of celebrities and the categories they're responsible for: Terry Bradshaw - Sports & LeisureBrooke Burke - People & Places John Cleese - History Whoopi Goldberg - Arts & Entertainment John Ratzenberger - Wild Card Bill "The Science Guy" Nye - Science & Nature It doesn't actually say that they read the questions, which would probably cost a few pennies and make it difficult to download new questions (although I'm not sure if new questions as DLC are contemplated). I also didn't see any reference to live in that press release! I hope Atari simply omitted mention of it in a multi-platform press release. -j
reeldeal
Trivial Pursuit is NOT easy. There's different versions of the game and some of them getting pretty freaking challenging. Then again maybe my group of friends are just too young(22) to answer lots of the question
Chris
Couldn't we save a bunch of money by just logging into a dashboard chat session and playing the regular Trivial Pursuit game? Or during RS3 games? "Trivia of the Dead"

Monkey's Live of the Party game for visual type stuff. -j
