JoeyN
Blizzard announced Starcraft Ghost has been delayed till next year. What a shocker :-) capt
Camp
That's the second time it's been pushed back a year. Damn, damn, damn!
bickle
What seems really odd to me is that in all of the previews, it was always mentioned how "polished" the game was. Now with news of the delay, 1up.com mentions that it "obviously needed improvement in several key areas". :wtf:

Though I'd rather wait & have an awesome game rather than something rushed out the door just to make a buck. Besides, there will be more than enough titles coming that will look for our gaming dollars.
Derrik Draven
I know it isn't a whole lot to go by but, that little demo video that was released on an OXM disc in the not-too-distant past, didn't look all that great, imho. As a title that I'm interested in, I wasn't terribly impressed with what I saw. But, apparently that is alot of polishing yet to do. Maybe that's what Blizzard is taking the extra lenght for. Not to mention, now they don't have to be in the lousy position of going head 2 head with Halo 2 this fall.
foogledricks
Can't remeber which magazine, I think GI, had Starcraft:Ghost as one of the top 5 most dissappointing things at E3. I think this statement was based on the fact that Starcraft should have been one of the most talked about games, given its hype, and how close it should be to completion, but no one was talking about this game, and then it of course got delayed. This game is no longer on my must-have list, for the moment. Fable too has lost some stock value. I hope both of them redeem themselves. Camp
Well, it's Blizzard and they have a pretty amazing track record for quality. This game will be good or it will never be released. With a 2005 release I'd prefer they just move it to Xbox2.
Cyberwoo
I'll say this. The E3 videos certainly didn't impress me. This game has long sine fallen off my radar. It is odd that Blizzard has delayed this game yet again. I wonder what the heck is going on with this game.
Derrik Draven
Well...Blizzard is now saying that Nihilistic is completely off the project now! Check it out...Starcraft Ghost Now, I have ZERO idea what's been going on behind the scenes but, just from where I'm sitting, this doesn't sound very good as far as Nihilistic is concerned. I'd take this as a "you guys aren't doing a good enough job. We're going to have to delay this game and, we're taking you off the project". Didn't their (Nihilistic) last game kinda bomb? Wasn't it some werewolf or vampire thingy for PC's? Just seems kind of suspicious that it was a "most wanted" at one time, then people that have commented on the vidoes at E3 were underwhelmed, it wasn't talked much about, then it gets delayed, then the developer gets the ax and Blizzard takes over finishing it. :? Romier S
Wasn't it some werewolf or vampire thingy for PC's? Thier last game was Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption (a sequel is being developed on the PC by Troika Games using the Half-Life 2 engine.). It wasn't a bad game by any means, though it was terribly flawed, namely the party combat was downright atrocious. However it did help to introduce the type of tools and online community building aspects that Bioware later perfected with Neverwinter Nights. The reason Vampire never took off in that regard was the toolset was downright impossible to use...

Derrik Draven
Glad to hear it! :tu: I hope it makes 'Ape a ton of cash since they didn't do so well with their underappreciated Metal Arms. A game which not only was fun all the way through but, IT WAS LOOOOOOONG!!!!!! Thank you, Swinging Ape.
JFo
Holy crap! Way to go Swinging Ape Studios! Now I can't wait to play this.
Metropolis
that little demo video that was released on an OXM disc in the not-too-distant past, didn't look all that great, imho. As a title that I'm interested in, I wasn't terribly impressed with what I saw. One of the things that was kind of annoying was the animation of the main character when sneaking around. Looks almost like something Jim Carrey would have done in The Mask. Another unfortunate example of an over-hyped game? Great to see Swingin' Ape is on the job. If Metal Arms was any indication it should be in good hands.

Derrik Draven
I was just surfin' over at Gamespot and thought I'd check my "tracked games" list. Haven't looked at it since this past spring. Still had Fable and Halo 2 on it. BUT, I also still have Starcraft:Ghost, on it. Almost forgot about this game! Made me realize that we haven't heard jack since Swingin' Ape Studios took over developement. Anyone else curious as to how this game is coming together? I'm still pretty interested in it after going back over what info/screenshots there are of it. Anyone heard anything about this, once highly anticipated, title? :wtf:
JFo
Originally posted by Derrik Draven@Dec 9 2004, 12:13 AM Anyone heard anything about this, once highly anticipated, title? :wtf: I just went over to Swinging Ape Studios website to see if any new news had been posted on this game. Nope. Nothing new since last July when Swinging Ape announced that Starcraft Ghost was going to be their next game. If memory serves, the game was sort of off-track when Nihilistic lost the project. Perhaps the fellows at Swinging Ape needed some time to get their shit together before they were ready to show the game off at all. I suspect we'll see some more news on it either after the new year or closer to E3.
dogbert
Swingin' Apes are fairly secretive, as are Blizzard at the end of the day, so I'm not suprised we haven't heard much of anything.
Camp
Any possibility this could appear on the next gen systems?
dogbert
If it's not a definite lock-in for Fall 2005, I'd say that's a given for a lot of games.

dogbert
That's very old news. The developer of the excellent Metal Arms, Swingin' Ape took over the project from them, and the progress on it has been going very well apparently. Blizzard like them so much they bought out the studio.
Chris F
Starcraft: Ghost was shown at E3 this year and was very impressive in the previews I've read. I'm looking forward to this one, but I think it's going to get lost in the holiday shuffle/X360 launch this year.
