Cyberwoo
List a game that really disapointed you dispite any hype or personal expectations. Here is my contribution: Interstate 82 (PC) - Interstate 76 was one of my favorite games at the time of its release and when I82 was announced I of course was looking forward to it. Anyone who has played I82 will know where this post is going. WTF happened? Gone were the excellent character dialogue, story, atmosphere and cool missions of I76 and in its place was a Twisted Metal wannabe. Why why why??? JTello
In case you missed how this thread got started, here it is. Taken from the (apparently very underachieving) Driver 3 thread. -I'm way too tired at this point to start it, but there is definately material here for a spinoff thread something along the lines of, "What the F#@* happened to (fill in the blank) game? -I vividly remember a good amount of positive (see hopeful,.. I guess) press for the potential of Driver 3. Somewhere in, oh say the last 5 or 6 months this Driver game took a serious detour into a bad section of town and got mugged. I'm sure there are a good number of other titles whose potential vanished so quickly it left you perplexed? -One title that comes to mind, albiet a more slow and painful demise, is Duke Nuke'em Forever. If they released a mediocre version of DNF years ago they would have still sold a ton of copies of that game,... but it's here-to-fore, just another piece od vaporware, whose lost potential is really perplexing. -Crap, I didn't think I had it in me,... I just created an intro to a spinoff thread. Does anyone wany to spin it off for me, I'm going to bed now. Good night all! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
foogledricks
Glad to see that Jtello finally inspired something. My game is Uprising 2. I loved the original. The second one just didn't live up to the first, it was actually not as good.
Robot Monkey
I also enjoyed Interstate 76, but never played I-82. Did you ever play Vigilante 8? I rented the Dreamcast version a long time ago. It seemed to be a sort of sequel to I-76 for consoles. I thought it was tough to play because two-player splitscreen was vertical, so you really couldn't see much except for a small slice right in front of your vehicle. Speaking of which, I would love to see an online version of something like I-76 for current-gen consoles. It could be a ton of fun on XBox Live. -j
blackcalx
There was an I82 mod for Battlefield 1942. I downloaded but never played it. Having never played I-76 or I-82 I didn't know what to expect, but I was drawn in by the screenshots of looped roads and cars with guns. Covak
Since I'82 has already been mentioned (and since Trespasser is too obvious) I'll say Worms 3D. The PC demo for that bored me to tears. I really thought it was terrible compared to all the 2D worms games. I'd had high hopes for it being another great console party game and I really didn't expect Team 17 to come up with something so crappy There was an I82 mod for Battlefield 1942. That I'82 mod for Battlefield was better than the actual I'82 game Speaking of which, I would love to see an online version of something like I-76 for current-gen consoles. It could be a ton of fun on XBox Live. I've said that many times myself since I got on Xbox Live. Where the heck are the cars-with-guns games?!? I'76 had such a great feel to it. I remember drag racing on the airport runway, doing crazy jumps with others in Vigilantes' Paradise (great map, and even better website ), cruising around with so many different customized rides, and all kinds of other stuff that people thought up. And that's all in addition to the great combat and CTF That sort of thing would work so well on Live :?

iainl
Oh, how I want Midtown Madness 4 to include guns now. That's just a brilliant idea.
Robot Monkey
Okay, I want an I-76 remake on Live with: 1. Custom skins (like MotoGP) 2. Live 3.0 clan support
iainl
I'd happily live without completely custom skins, as I understand devs worried about the proliferation of idiots on Counterstrike with pr0nographic logos. But a nice big stack of optional bolt-ons to the cars (both useful stuff like visible guns, and daft spoilers, wheel trims, inflatable chickens and so on) is a must, yes.
