ChoiceStriker
Speaking of cons, anyone going to Comic Con this year? I went last year and had a lot of fun, but I thought about it too late this year. Too late to get a hotel anywhere near the convention center, anyway. We'll be there, at the Toy2R booth, hawking Qees!

ChoiceStriker
This is one of the ComicCon exclusive Qees: WOW!! That's one of the coolest designs I've seen yet. Do you know who designed it?
rustyjaw
Yeah, he's a graphic novelist called Voltaire with a series of novels called "Deady" - he'll be there signing his books. This is turning into a thread-jack, so I'm going to split it.

ChoiceStriker
That is very cool stuff indeed. I love the Mizuno guest art in the Deady comic. We met Junko at Comic Con last year and had her sign a couple of things (she also sketched a Dokuro-san skull for us). I really like her stuff. Angry the Clown
I'm not sure I warm to the concept of Comic Con, personally - or at least what it seems to be in its contemporary state (a showcase seemingly dominated by movie studios), but I enjoyed reading that, Adam. I've no familiarity with Scott Pilgrim so it was interesting to follow your enthusiasm about it. My love for the Haunted Mansion ride - it's design, it's music - knows no bounds though so hearing about Del Toro being on board to bring it to life on screen leaves me incredibly excited as I've been aware of what a fan he is for quite some time now. He replicated the design of the mansion in a room at his own home. Angel P

Thanks! I was really hesitant about going to Comic Con too, and I do have a mixed opinion. The best and worst thing about it is the sheer number of people. It's absolutely overwhelming, but that does mean there's always something to do, and the numbers mean everyone who presents puts on the best show possible. I don't think I'd want to do it every year, but every other year, maybe... I'm very glad I have the far more comics-centric HeroesCon in my neck of the woods -- quieter, more relaxed, more accessible artists, you can actually just talk to people -- as an alternative. kelley
Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I have to wonder with the H hall only seating 6,000 people and their being over 125,000 people there this year, there are a lot of people being denied/left out. How can they continue to grow the Con and not allow for more people to participate. When I helped run a large Con that was one of the biggest complaints we got from attendees, they felt left out when events happened.
