The Daisy
My wife and I just started construction of our new home and I thought I would share the riveting first pictures of dirt and sand, as well as our exciting driveway. http://www.thehaagfamily.net/gallery/excavation Glen

Angry the Clown
Glen, that looks like a really beautiful spot to build a house! Dan
The Daisy
The Gameroom is in the sand currently. Right next to the theater. It's going to be a great place. I can't wait to be in there. We're due to close on December 1st at this point. Hopefully nothing will hold that back, as my wife is due on December 19th. Nothing like a busy finish to the year.... JTello
-That looks like a beautiful spot Glen! Great views. What plans do you have for your house? Will it have a theater or game room, a pool? Now that you've shared the pictures you have to paint the rest of the american dream for us.
The Daisy
It's a really nice 4 1/4 acre lot out in the country on some old farm land. It's just so relaxing to just be out there. When I get a chance I'll scan in the plans so you guys can see what the place will look like. It will have a family room in the basement that will have at least one arcade game (Hopefully a full sized Tecmo Bowl console), a foosball table, and possibly a pool table. It will also have a full theater with some sort of tiered seating, as well as a restaurant booth that I got from a local brew pub last year. Here's what might be my favorite part of the house though.... my wife and I decided to really spoil ourselves on one really silly thing. http://www.us.kohler.com/tech/products/why_waterhaven.jsp We're going with the alcove system. The kicker on the thing is that it takes it's own 75 gallon water heater. Thank jebus we're going to have our own well. Glen

That Waterhaven looks sweet. I know if I ever build I will certainly be putting in something like that.

Failsafe
Fantastic pics Glen! What a view! How much extra would it cost to slap an extra one up right beside that one? I mean, the guys are already there doing the work. How much more can it be?

The Daisy
So, is the hill lot next door for sale? Well, there is at least one lot nearby for sale. The other lots next to us have been sold, but no progress has been made on them whatsoever. What's the square footage? As for the square footage, we've got about 3200 including the basement. 1900 on the first floor. Thankfully with the kid on the way, we don't have to hear about having such a huge house for just the two of us. How much extra would it cost to slap an extra one up right beside that one? Sadly, they won't let me put up another house on the lot... perhaps an LCVG shed would be in order. Just remember that if you do convince her, I'm right next door to you in Minnesota. So, we GameCube mods can have a big ol' geek-out. I think I should be able to convince her of a get together sometime next year. We just have to wait for the baby to get used to me first. I know it should be the other way around, but really, this kid has no idea what it's going to be meeting in 4 months. I'd be more than happy to have a few of you guys stop by for a Great Lakes gathering. Ya' got broadband out there? I couldn't live without broadband. At the very least I'll have 768 DSL. Which might have to do for a while... sadly. Glen
The Daisy
Sounds perfect for a midwest LCVG gathering. Sarah gave me the go ahead for a midwest gathering. We'd just need to play for it for spring of next year. More new pictures . We've got windows now and the theater looks about done. I'm thinking about having them make it a bit bigger. If the cost isn't too bad, I could add about another 75 sq. ft. to it, that could really make a difference for all of the seating. JTello
Glen, the house looks great! I only have question. What sort of sick entertainment are you planning to show in the theater room, public executions!?!? http://www.thehaagfamily.net/albums/Thehou...ne/DSC_0032.jpg Edit Changed to link as the picture exceeds 640x480. The Daisy
I guess the carpeting guys got sick of running into all of those cables and put them up like that. I still need to paint the theater. I have a nice dark blue for the room. It should look very nice. I was hoping to do it before the carpeting went in, but oh well.
