Carlucci
I'm getting older (37 this year), and for the first time I'm starting to feel slower in my reaction times while playing games. So I found this handy-dandy Reaction Time Tester on the web, and gave it several tries. My average is around .26 - .28 I'm wondering how that compares to other video game enthusiasts, young and old. What's your average? Carlos.
Camp
Avg. 0.253 I couldn't get any faster than .23 on any one attempt.

The Daisy
Avg. 0.222 My best time was a 0.188 {edit}30 years old. One of my friends here at work is a drag racer, and he brought in his reaction time testing box one afternoon. I beat him on reaction time 9 times out of 10. All of those years of game playing have paid off, I guess. Glen

PoisonJam
Maybe we should post our ages as well...it would be interesting to see if there is a correlation between the two. As for me, this decrepit 32-yr-old posted times of .19, .20, .21, .21, and .22, for an average of .206.

The Daisy
The tough thing about this is that it doesn't penalize you for hitting the button early. To make it a truly accurate test you need to have a certain time set into it so that you couldn't possibly "jump" the green. If you get lucky sometimes you could click just before it goes from red to green and come up with an incredible time, but it wouldn't be a true reaction time. Not sure how they could do that with this test. I would say that based on our sample that somewhere between a .18 and a .2 would be the fastest that you could do, without jumping the gun. rustyjaw
.05  Heh. Lets put it this way, .05 seconds isn't enough time for the signal to travel from your retina to the motor system. That, my friend, was an accident. here are mine: .217 .216 .197 .217 .237 .2168 Age
rustyjaw
I see how Dean got .05 now...if you just sit there and click it will accept the first one after the green light...major flaw. It should reset the timer if you click before the light. I just ran through it this way and got: .023 .045 .061 .063 .068 .052 EDIT: Oops, missed Glen's post. Cathartic
Just did it twice, here were my results: ============================= 0.231 0.181 0.181 0.2 0.19 0.197 ============================= 0.12 0.17 0.21 0.18 0.18 0.172 ============================= Age: 30 years old I'm pretty proud of the second round. I'm totally in agreement with you, Glen -- they need to implement a penalty for hitting the button prior to the green light. I'm curious to try just spamming the button to see what kind of scores I can get.
EnemaEms
Actually, I didn't click it before, I actually anticipated it. Sort of like a Defensive lineman getting off of the line right when the ball is snapped. In other words I couldn't do it again if you paid me. :green: So stop raining on my parade Ed. -Dean-

rustyjaw
So stop raining on my parade Ed. /rain /rain /rain LOL, seriously, I don't mean to imply that you're cheating. By the way, .25 seconds is about how long it takes to become conscious of something, so we are utilizing pathways that bypass consciousness and go direct to the motor regions...essentially a primed reflex.
