LupinLives
I rented the game and have enjoyed it so far. The combat is fun and the story is decent enough. This is not a classic, but nor is it Batman Dark Tomorrow. I think if they tweaked this engine a little bit it could be something special....combining hack and slash with a FF type world and magic system. The first two hours of the game have involved mainly one character. I started out with the melee character which was fun and am now stuck with the FPS combat character...which is not fun. I am uncertain why they decided to stick you with a bad FPS control, but such is life.

bickle
Once you get all four characters, it exposes a major flaw in the game: the characters are dumber than a sack of rocks. You can adjust the AI, but the settings amount to "bad" or "worse". I end up spending a lot of time cycling characters just to keep them alive. Romier S
Agreed. The game is desperately in need of a pause feature (ala KOTOR). This type of real time combat would benefit greatly from both the added strategy (the ability to plan attacks, skill and spirit strikes and taking care of your characters health) and it would also server to ease the frustration level! I still however find myself coming back to the game despite these issues. The characters are somewhat generic but the world is just so damn beautiful and the story is interesting enough for me to want to see it through to the end. The voice acting is also terribly hit or miss. Some characters (such as Buki/Tal) are tolerable while others (General Argos, general towns folk) will make you wonder why they pulled programmer Nigel away from his computer when he could have been working on better AI instead of doing the voice acting . bickle
Lol - well said. If I hear one more soldier say "a florin a day, a soldier's pay", I think I'll snap. =)
bickle
I'm warming up to the game a bit. But man, I'm really burning through the potions to compensate for stupid AI. Tal's defensive spell is a lifesaver, so make sure to bump up his magic points enough to cast it 2 or 3 times. At this point, I'd recommend it if it was $29.99, but not $49.99. Ricky G
Weird, I dont find my party AI to be hurting me all that much. I believe I'm towards the middle/end of the game, I just left the grotto. Each party member has a Bat Fang Rune or two in their weapon upgrade slots. That helps them heal with every hit they put on the enemy. Before every big battle, Elco casts the nano spell (which increases your party's damage), then Tal casts his armor spell that decreases damage taken by up to 70%. Every once in awhile during battle I switch over to Ailish and cast a healing spell. The rest of the time I spend using whatever character I choose. Most battles have been time-consuming yet very easy. I have never been in potion trouble at all, I have many upper level potions that I've never used at all. Most tines that a potion is dropped, I can't even pick it up, my inv. is full, so I use one of my stock of whatever potion is lying there, then pick it up. LupinLives
Well after a few days I have quickly lost interest in this game. I just didn't care what happened to the characters anymore. The combat was fun for a while but it couldn't overcome the games faults. I think if they made a sequal where they tweaked the story and some elements it would be an incredible action RPG. Jordan_E
I returned the game after its rental period, being stuck in an area where wave after wave of things kept destroying my team. Having to jump from one character to another to keep them alive was just too much. I'd end up alone, finally wiping out a group of monsters, only to have another wave appear. I just gave up. Oh well.
