Guest Bryan
If I disable the SSID broadcast on my Linksys wireless router will that keep my Dell Axim from being able to connect to the network? Thanks in advance, Bryan
adamsappel
I believe so. I disabled SSID recently and nothing could connect. If you're trying to secure your network, enable WEP or restrict MAC addresses instead.

Thanks in advance, Bryan No, I disabled my SSID broadcast on my Dlink router and my laptop connects fine. When you are connected to your wireless network, go to network connections and right click on the wireless connection and select properties. Select the Wireless Networks tab and enter your SSID of you network where it says "Automatically connect to available networks in the order listed below." Once you add your SSID to this list you can disable the SSID broadcast and your laptop will still be able to connect to the network because its SSID is in that list. bickle
Disabling SSID does nothing in regards to the ability to connect to the access point. It's just like an unlisted phone number. You can't look it up, but you can still connect to it.
