JoeyN
Star Wars Battlefront web site has gone live. They have a video trailer for the game. I can not wait for this one. There is one thing on there which would be cool. It says the Xbox and PS2 versions will have 16 players in normal gameplay mode, but with dedicated server it may have more. Says it in the faq section capt
MrJames
Looking forward to this as well. Should be a nice change of pace from Black Arrow.
JoeyN
Got to look at the stuff on the site. They have a video of 7 of the planets up and they all looks excellent. capt
Calvin
Two Words: Death Star. That would be sweet! Regardless, I'm picking this up unless the reviews are god-awful
Atomic Dog
I noticed in the trailer there is a short clip of an Ewok getting blasted. I think I might find it rather satisfying turning an ewok into a puff of fur and smoke.
blackcalx
Preordered and waiting. I'm really looking forward to this one!
Graeme
I'm ALWAYS rooting for the guys at Pandemic since I've known some of the founders since their days back at Activision. Every one of their games seems to fall up a little short though, and I keep hoping their next one will be their breakout masterpiece. I hope Battlefront is great, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Angry the Clown
The demo level I have been able to play of an Endor mission on the x-box version is a lot of fun, and a demo where I began to appreciate the design of the game the more I played it (and I did, and still do, keep coming back to giving it a go). Admittedly first impressions of the visuals in the demo were rather average, but you soon appreciate that there there a lot of things going on in the level, with 150 odd players on each team (Rebels vs Imperial), plus Ewoks running about doing their own thing as well. Everything was very smooth despite the mass of characters and vehicles charging around the dense forest design. It was certainly more fun being on the Imperial side as I had immediate reign over speeder bikes and AT-STs. Speeders are insane to control, as the game makes everything around you blur so it is easy to end up smashing into a tree stump. AT-STs are, as they should be, very clunky to control, but they do a lot of damage. It was all good fun and I am rather excited about the finished product, and yes shooting Ewoks is rather amusing, especially doing it out of revenge after they've gone and done that twin log smashing trick in one of your AT STs with you in it. I'll be keeping my eye on how the XBOX and PC versions compare. Right now I feel I may be siding with purchasing the PC release, but we'll see. It will be an absolute riot over X-Box Live. Beer Monkey
I'm ALWAYS rooting for the guys at Pandemic since I've known some of the founders since their days back at Activision. Every one of their games seems to fall up a little short though FSW could have been an amazing game...it was so close. It still ended up being a good game, but there's definitely a sense of some untapped potential, especially in the level design and the linear nature of the game. I'd love to see a FSW sequel with more depth. Battlefront intrigues me, especially for XBox Live. But if it doesnt' absolutely kick ass, I think it will gather a lot of dust once Halo 2 comes out six weeks later. I'm not confident enough to preorder, but I eagerly await the LCVG reviews. MrJames
I think most games will be collecting dust when Halo 2 comes out. It looks like the Ghost Recon 2 release date of 11/2 was pushed back a few weeks to 11/30.
Beer Monkey
I think most games will be collecting dust when Halo 2 comes out. Well, sure, but some games more than others. I won't stop playing some golf, racing, etc, as I like to have variety. But I don't know how much Black Arrow or Battlefront I'll be playing. I've wanted to play Halo on Live for so long... Josh
I haven't played the first Halo (*ducks*), but from what I gather, it had a pretty interesting story. I wonder how many people will end up not playing the single player this time around in lieu of the online? Could be an interesting experiment in that factor. Beer Monkey
I wonder how many people will end up not playing the single player this time around in lieu of the online? Could be an interesting experiment in that factor. Well, Halo has sold over 3 million copies and going strong. XBox Live claims over a million subscribers. But some of those probably don't care about FPS, just sports, racing, etc. Even on the XBox, the offline market is bigger. I wouldn't be surprised if 80% of more of the buyers buy the game strictly for offline play. But here at LCVG, the numbers will be very different.... Kain rising
I'd buy Halo 2 even if there wasn't online play. Xbox Live is just a sweet addition to the package.
blackcalx
I am really quite excited about Star Wars Battlefront. I love Battlefield 1942 and its clones, and I love the Star Wars universe. Being able to play a game that melds both together with the LCVG crew is a very attractive package. However, I am concerned that Halo 2 is going to push every other game out of the way. I'll be there playing along with you, but I'd love for this game to thrive here, assuming that it is worth playing in the first place. Halo 2 scares me. Beer Monkey
I'd buy Halo 2 even if there wasn't online play. Xbox Live is just a sweet addition to the package. And I'm sure most of us feel the same. But most buyers who buy it will probably have no plans of playing it online, ever. That's very different from you and I. However, I am concerned that Halo 2 is going to push every other game out of the way. I'll be there playing along with you, but I'd love for this game to thrive here, assuming that it is worth playing in the first place. I'm with you. It'll be a shame if a good game falls by the wayside because of Halo 2. But I'm likely to be one of the worst offenders, as I just don't have the time to properly support several FPS games at once. Wolfenstein is still my favorite of the online FPS games, too bad it doesn't get play any more. But it likely had a much longer day in the sun than if it had been launched around the time of Halo 2. Could be an interesting experiment in that factor. Not in this house It was the single player game that hooked me.The story is excellent, & I for one want to know how it all ends. I'll still be getting SWB & will play some other games as time goes on - but I can honestly say that unless Halo 2 is a complete dud,it will become my most played multiplayer game for at least the next 6 months...
