Failsafe
Well, it was my first trip south of the border in over four years. Having heard a rumour that Allen (adamsappel) plays his Xbox on a 13" RCA (my mistake, I thought it was Sylvania), I needed to see this for myself. A few PMs later, a time and date was coordinated for the big viewing. After 12.5 hours of driving (including hurricane-like weather around Harrisburg, PA) my friend and I arrived at our destination - the outskirts of Washington, DC. Alas, I would wait until the following day, Thursday, August 5, 2004, to see the mighty TV in action. Bryan (PPH2) flew in from the south to see the thing with his own eyes as well. Bryan marvelling at the sight before him. It was everything he had hoped and much, much more. Bryan (PPH2), Jeremy (Failsafe) and Allen (adamsappel) havin' some crazy fun with the RCA. Who wouldn't want a picture with this handsome fella? The panda was very impressed. Couldn't see a single sniper! ===================== MANY THANKS TO ALLEN FOR HAVING US! Beer Monkey
The sad thing is that Allen can kick my butt playing an FPS on that thing, and I've got a 53" HDTV. I guess it's not the size of the implement, but knowing what to do with it. Well, that's what she said, at least. Looks like a fun weekend. adamsappel
Well, if you look on the wall behind my head, you'll see the certificate from the Playstation Underground that acknowledges me as an "expert gamer," so don't hate me for my mad skillz. Zathras
Ah so that is the Tetris fortress of solitude! Ah HA! Is that a black Dreamcast or a Saturn next to the Genesis? Good to finally put faces to the voices and that bear looks like a giant Qee.

Guest Bryan
That's Allen's office where he keeps his "other" wardrobe. He insisted that the dresses and skirts were his wife's, but I have my doubts (and thank goodness they are still only doubts). Allen has failed to mention that he has a cute sister. I was fortunate enough to meet her last Saturday. There is absolutely no resemblance between the two of them (redundant, I know). The tops, bottoms and sides of my eyes began to hurt after about one minute of RS3:BA - I kept looking to each side of the screen for more, but nothing was there. Starhawk
Allen, as close as you are sitting to the TV, you could just get a 20" and it would be like an IMAX theater.
Guest Bryan
If that TV ever fell, Allen would lose both legs.

Guest Bryan
I sincerely doubt she would ever be down there (unbound, that is).
MrJames
Why not just get a VGA box and use your PC monitor? IT can't be that small, can it?

For some reason (I think it's called being crazy), I don't throw away the bags from my gamestore purchases, I just stuff them into this bigger bag. (Actually, that's where I'm keeping Lindsey's legs!) <!--QuoteBegin-Zathras Is that a black Dreamcast or a Saturn next to the Genesis? Chris, that's a Dreamcast. I bought it used and was pleasantly surprised to get the black Sega Sports version. The item on the bottom shelf is an APC Game Manager, essentially a glorified power strip. This set-up, which I arranged just for the visit, is light-years ahead of what it was originally. I previously had the TV on a low table and I sat hunched in front of it on a backless office chair. I also figured out a way to hook up my computer speakers, so now I don't have to game in mono. A VGA box is probably in my future, although my monitor is only 16 inches. If you guys think my console situation is sad, my desktop computer specs are a two-hankie affair.

Failsafe
Here's a better shot of Allen's gaming setup. Note the aforementioned speakers recently added.
Beer Monkey
I know there have been some smaller get togethers before, but we really ought to consider some kind of East Coast meet/lanparty sometime (after Halo 2, perhaps). I'm averse to drives over six hours (a 9 hour drive to Bethlehem PA killed me a while back), but I can often get weekend airfare around the east for about $160, which I consider reasonable. adamsappel
If nobody's yet noticed, Bryan's atrocious gaming skills might be attributable to the fact that he clearly has no idea how to hold a gaming controller.

It's a Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 Desktop Theater, originally part of my computer set-up. I'm no audio geek, so I don't even know if it's supposed to be any good, but it wasn't expensive and it surely beats the mono RCA speaker. EnemaEms
I love the fact that you have a wavebird and you sit 1 foot away from the TV. :lmfao: Oh, and where are the pics of Allen's cute sister? -Dean-
