LupinLives
I live in Tampa and there is a Hurricane heading right for us. We've never lived through one before and this one sounds like a bad one. They are saying it might reach winds of 110 miles per hour when it passes over here. If anything happens to me blame brucecheese. :green:
xPieter
Looks like someone took all those "Punish the infidel" comments a little too seriously. Best of luck to you. I only had to live through one hurricane scare during my time in Miami. I wish I had some good advice for you, but all I can come up with is what my grandmother always says on windy days: Make sure you have lots of rocks in your pockets. Be sure and let us know when you're out of harms way.
Bruce B
Okay heres a safety tip. Sit on the floor with your knees bent. Then bend over and kiss your ass goodbye!!!! :lmfao: Seriously, good luck dude. Scary stuff.
Chris The Rock
I live in Pinellas County, FL (St Pete area) and we hear that there's a manadatory evacuation of Flood Zone levels A, B, and C. We live in flood zone D. Hmmmm.....what to do. The roads are already jammed with people. If we go anywhere, I'll be packing my Xbox. Gotta have something to do. Guest Bryan
What about your DLP? Don't forget that. (At least I thought you had one, Chris) Best wishes to all. Both storms are going to dump a bunch of rain on Charleston, too.
MrJames
Speeds are at 105mph sustained right now. I'm further up north but it is predicted to pass right over me. Hopefully Cuba can put a small dent in it before it hits us.
Robot Monkey
Well stay safe, all of you. Also, I fixed the topic title -- remember that we don't use cryptic titles. -j

Orpheus
Best wishes to all of you getting through this. My GF is in Sarasota right now on vacation visiting some family friends (her first vacation in years, talk about bad timing). I haven't heard from her yet today so I'm gfetting a bit worried. Why she didn't take her cell phone or leave a contact number is beyond me. :bang:
merlot
Good luck my fellow southern gamers. Those hurricans are going to make for a rainy friggin weekend up here
Failsafe
They just showed footage of the mass exodus on CNN. Good luck to everyone down there.
Chatakinns
I've been through tornado's, but never a hurricane or blizzard. Cal promised me one of each of these if I'd move up here and be with him ..... I'm still waiting. He refuses to take me to Buffalo NY any time in December-Feb. :wtf:
Orpheus
Having been stuck in 2 blizzards in Buffalo I can understand why. Bad weather is always interesting until it affects you. Still no word from the GF, damn it all.
rustyjaw
I think I'd rather experience a bad hurricane than a bad earthquake. At least you know when a hurricane is coming. Although I certainly don't envy anyone in Florida right now, he possibility that your home may be gone tomorrow isn't nice. Be safe!
Angel P
My brother and I drove down here from NY last weekend to see homes with the intention of moving the family over here by early next year. We weren't planning on returning til tomorrow night but it may be too late by then so we're getting ready to leave in a few minutes.

MrJames
They're starting some basic evacs here. It looks like the storm is turning more to the east now. Good luck to those of you on the Gulf side.
merlot
Suppose to hit land in an hour or two. Turned the weather channel on at work. I know what I'll be doing for the rest of the day
Guest Bryan
My family has four timeshare properties on Sanibel Island. At least our weeks don't come around for ten more months. They may be able to get a roof back up by then.
LupinLives
Un-friggin-believable....the Hurricane has taken a turn to the NE and the heart of it will not pass over Tampa. It looks like we will still get 100MPH winds but it wont be the ctaegory 4 monster that is heading towards the central part of the state.
Orpheus
Yep, the worst of it looks like it will be missing the area my GF is right as well. Much relief, although it sucks for those who do get hit by this.
JoeyN
Yeah they now say its gonna cross florida overnight, go up the carolinas by 2 PM tommorow and turn into a tropical storm again and then head inland up here for sunday. Hope everyone down in Florida is alright. Everyone on the east coast be safe this weekend capt
Angel P
My heart goes out to those that lost loved ones and property. We were in Fla. to look at homes since we're seriously considering making a move sometime in the near future. Hurricanes and tropical storms will just have to be a part of our lives. CNN Report My brother and I drove out of Homestead, Florida at 9:40pm Thursday night and arrived in the Bronx, NY at 8:30pm last night. Whew, what a drive. Again, well wishes to all in Fla. It's a lovely state and I'm looking forward to calling it home soon.
MrJames
I ended up getting a some rain and wind with a few power outages here and there but most of it happened when I went to bed. Dealing with the western side of a weakening storm was much better then what was originally predicted. Here are a few vids of the storm from down south. http://www.hurricanetrack.com/
Chris The Rock
Yes, thankfully, the storm missed Tampa Bay. I arrived back in town to find all of my belongings intact and no major damage around the immediate area. We did drive up through Port Charlotte, and saw some of the damage done around I-75. My heart goes out to those poor people who lost their homes, and to the families who lost loved ones in the storm.
