Klonoa 2 should be a Greatest Hit just by default, irregardless of its sales ;).

Otherwise both VF4s, both SSX games, Baldur's Gate, and Code Veronica would be my personal top picks. Mind you my PS2 experience is limited (and I've heard great things about Kingdom Hearts).

If you are interested in the titles be sure to get them quick before they switch completely to the Greatest Hits covers.

I picked up FFX (actually the third time I've bought it - long story) and managed to get the original cover.

Fellow LCVG member Kain Rising bought it with the GH cover and the booklet is entirely black and white inside (the original is glorious technicolor...)

Now I need to track down FFX Tricky - "Its Tricky to Bahamut, to Bahamut its Trickaaaaaay"

Looking for some reccomendations out of the greatest hits. In general I like sports, driving and rpg's but I am always willing to try other genres. I was thinking about Gran Turismo but I think I will wait for #4 to come out. I would also like a game with good replay value or one that takes a while to get through. Something that provides a good workout for the home theater is also an added bonus but not a requirement.

Thanks

Ktulu

From the above batch the ones I've played that meet your requirements (If you haven't got them already):

Final Fantasy X (Square)

Kingdom Hearts (Square)

As far as ones that take a while to get through these are numbers 1 and 2 with a bullet and very good games to boot.

Grand Theft Auto 3 (Rockstar Games) -addictive open ended game gameplay with good soundtrack

SSX Tricky (EA) - fun pickup and play type gameplay and supports DTS sound for your HT

I'm sure others will chime in too.

I doubt much has changed.

In my opinion you would be correct. If anything it's gotten worse to my mind. But other people seem to love the FF series so you would probably do well to rent it. I've heard lots of good things about Dark Cloud, and I can vouch for Baldur's Gate being fun if you want a Gauntlet-esque light RPG that has dynamite co-op play.

I just got tired of 7 about midway through and never finished it. FFX just clicked with me more for some reason.

If 7 rubbed you the wrong way though you may want to skip it and check out Kingdom Hearts. It is a nice blend of styles, good story and the fights are real (not turn based). Check out the reviews here.

What I've played of Balders Gate has been good but I didn't play enough to get too deep into it. Oh and if you are looking for a challenge Maximo is old school hard (it's a 3d Ghouls and Ghosts game).

For $19 I doubt you could do too bad with any of them.

Except theyre mostly $39 in Canada

The heck? Man, Greatest Hits titles should be a maximum of $30 at most places unless the prices have shot through the roof since I last checked. I mean, maybe at EB, but I wouldn't shop there unless forced anyway (or they had a kick-ass pre-order :P).

Most Wal-Marts offer for $30 last time I saw...
