Derrik Draven
Title pretty much sums it up. I remember reading about something like, 8 or so downloadable levels planned for S.C. well before the title was released. I thought that that would be fantastic! Almost like getting a whole new game in just downloads alone. But...after release LAST YEAR, in November...we still only have one damn extra level; Kola Cell. Granted, it's a very nice, and well polished level but...one level in 9 friggin months?!!!? What's up wit dat???? If this is an indication of the rate at which these so called 'extra levels' are going to be released, if there truly is/was 8 or so levels for download, well be playing the original Splinter Cell into 2009! On the; then old, Xbox II!!!! Someone, on another almost as famous forum  thought that perhaps Ubi has scrapped their download plans for this 1st title, didn't say dick about it, and now all the downloads are actually going to make up Pandora's Tomorrow. Kind of like Splinter Cell 1.5? Whadda you guys think? Anyone hear anything?

Kind of like Splinter Cell 1.5? I think it was me that suggested that, and I still stand by it. Haven't seen anything to the contrary. Even when they originally announced the first solid download details, they were very careful to effectively say "the first one would be free". On a related tangent , haven't seen it covered much that Microsoft just announced a chunk of Brute Force downloads the other day. I guess it shows how much its popularity dropped off... FLYING SE7EN
Do I have to have the actual Splinter Cell game disc in the X-Box to play the Kola Cell level, or just a game save on my hard drive?? I got SC for the PS2 before I got my XBOX, so I rented (and already returned) the Xbox version and I'm wondering if I'll be able to play the new level without the disc. Cheers. J. Whooter
My guess is you'll need the full game, since the level will require the Splinter Cell engine to run...
General Zot
I think this falls into the same category as: why isn't Halo $19.99 yet? Is it not a platinum classic (or whatever those are called)? We are a victim of Splinter Cell's awesome sales record. I'm sure Ubi thought that the d/l levels would keep sales propped up while they worked on SC2. Well, since SC still has no problems selling as many as they can print, why give the milk away free when you can force them to buy another cow? Seriously, makes much more $$$ for them to hurry up and finish SC2 and strike while the iron is still hot than to release free d/l to extend the sales/life of SC2. My honest feeling is that Kola Cell is it, unless they have an extra level lying around when SC2 is finished and they want to throw the SC1 fans a bone. FLYING SE7EN
I sold my PS2 version of the game and got EB to price match Target's price of $29.99 for the X-Box version. All in all, it cost me $5 to upgrade. 8) Bring on Kola Cell...

Chris
OK, it's September, anyone heard anything further about the new levels?
Derrik Draven
There's going to be 2 new levels on the demo disc if you preorder Rainbox Six 3. Something about infiltrating a sub pen, then the sub itself. Sounds cool. Now I have to get back my copy of SC that I lent out due to lack of use. JFo
All right, apparently these two Splinter Cell levels are only available if you pre-order Rainbow Six 3 for the Xbox. You'll get a bonus disc with the new missions and some other stuff. So, I ask you all, has anyone bother to do the pre-order thing yet? Did you get the bonus disc? Did you play through the new levels? How were they? Can you send the disc to me so I don't have to succumb to this cheap ruse to get me to buy a game in which I have no interest? MrJames
The demo disc comes out today and I'll be picking it up. Perhaps Ubi is making it exclusive to those who preorder for a period of time then releasing it as DLC.
Jason Merrick
Jeffrey - the disk is also supposedly going to be available for purchase for $9.99... or you can get it free with your pre-order of RS3.
