Derrik Draven
I haven't done any pc gaming in years. Last "new" stuff I bought was 2 3dfx Voodoo 2 cards running in sli mode. That was for my Pentium 2. Bailed outta pc's and went with the ps2 and the Xbox. So, it's been.....a little while. Anyways, I was wondering what games are out there, that are something like the old Bullfrog games where you could either play as an all controlling god? Or, what's out there that is real time action/strategy, that's popular? You know, resource management, expanding your territory, conquering enemies... I just bought an Inspiron 8200, 1.8ghz, 640mb, Radeon 9000 64mb, 15"uxga screen. Came with all the installation software and a really nice custom backpack/laptop carrying case and a wireless router with cable. It's damn near like brand new. Not exactly a barnburner but, it IS slightly more capable than my old 3dfx system. Death, desitution, divorce...the best ways to buy anything used. Divorce and destitution allowed me to buy that above system for $500. Couldn't pass it up. What can you guys recommend that this system can run decently in the above mentioned genre? Eldorado
play as an all controlling god Black and White is an older game that should play very good on that setup. I'm not much into real time strategy though, so no suggestions there. Sean
Cyberwoo
I was bored with B&W but it would be worth a shot. Could probably get it for cheap. Here are some well recieved strategy games that have come out in the last few years based on review scores on http://www.gamerankings.com: Warcraft 3 Age of Mythology Rise Of Nations Medieval: Total War Commandos 2: Men of Courage Homeworld 2 I haven't been into a good RTS game since Homeworld. Before that it was Total Annihilation and Starcraft back in the late 90's. If an RTS game has too much resource management then I wont touch it. Robot Monkey
Tropico is fun in small doses and is budget-priced. It's a real-time game where you play the despot of a banana republic. I got the "Mucho Macho" edition for $15 at either Best Buy or GameStop. I know it isn't real-time, but I think Galactic Civilizations is a lot of fun, plus you can download it directly from Stardock. It's like Master of Orion 2 or 3, except that it's fun to play. -j

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is recommended (4 has prettier graphics, but is less good).
